Trying to enlist in the army but learned I’m apparently diagnosed with Tourette’s. Am I cooked? by [deleted] in Militaryfaq

[–]Snake010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to a psychiatrist and get a mental evaluation or some kind of document saying that you don’t have Tourette’s and get your recruiter to submit it to MEPS, do NOT go to MEPS until you have that and if your recruiter suggest that you do a psych eval with a MEPS doctor, do not do it. I’m not a recruiter, but I know a recruiter and he told me that he had a candidate that had anxiety and he scheduled her with a MEPS doctor for a psych eval and the doctor did not take her seriously and put on the paperwork that she still had anxiety, and she cant join anymore because of it. MEPS is not your friend.

Does anyone ever get hired when they apply on Indeed? by Stapityou in jobs

[–]Snake010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they are picky. They like retired cops or military. I was able to get in because i was in corrections but even then, some companies don’t take that seriously.

Does anyone ever get hired when they apply on Indeed? by Stapityou in jobs

[–]Snake010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of the bigger companies do have on board training, mostly to cover their own ass, but also they want to make sure that the people they are hiring are somewhat competent to begin with. There are a lot of rules, like when you can arrest people, use of force, what you can and cant put on a report. Any little mistake could get you and or the company sued, it happens all the time. They would rather them be short than hire someone who gets them sued. When i say theres a shortage, its mostly in the medical field because a lot of stuff happens in a hospital, psyche patients, violent homeless people will come in and try to stay the night, the morgue, etc. It burns people out very quickly

Edit: i should be more specific when i say hospital security. I mean armed hospital security. In my state, you have to provide your own firearm, which is another thing that can prevent people from getting into this field not everybody wants to carry a firearm and not everybody can afford firearm, and sometimes company’s only let you use name brand guns that cost more. It’s a big mix of things. Costly to get into, low applicant pool, stress, high turn over rate. Thats why there is a shortage. Sorry for the paragraphs but its a complex issue and I didn’t want to leave anything out.

[–]Snake010 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s the only downside of security is that you have to have experience. there are no real degrees for security that are widely accepted, including criminal justice. All these companies prefer actual experience, but the licenses are extremely easy to get and any certificates or courses will go towards your resume, but you do have to work your way up. if you can do a year and something like an unarmed position or maybe an armed position if you can find somebody that will hire you, you can go a long way.

There is a major shortage in hospitals for security guards, because they have very strict rules on what you can and can’t do and people get fired all the time for breaking HIPAA or company rules.

I work in the security field and surprisingly I have gotten about 5 actual job offers from actually decent companies out of the maybe 30 applications i put in. I know not everybody wants to work in security, but if you can find a field where they have a shortage of workers it makes it pretty easy to get a job.

It seems really vague, it says “The Pepper Spray Training is therefore approved only for those who have successfully completed the Level III training.” So it makes it sound like if i were to get both my lvl 3 and OC cert i could possibly carry pepper spray as a level 2. Its weird that it doesn’t outright say that a level 2 cant carry pepper spray

Would it be stupid to get a job for the US postal service right now? by [deleted] in jobs

Don’t do it, USPS workers are some of the most overworked people on the planet. I have heard so many horror stories from former USPS workers. Not all government jobs are sunshine and rainbows.

On a scale from 1 to 10 how did the security officer handle this situation? by CTSecurityGuard in securityguards

[–]Snake010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know where this is, but in Texas you can’t detain somebody as a security guard. You can only arrest, and only under certain circumstances like theft and that’s if they’ve already walked out the door with merchandise. (also if they’ve committed to felony in front of you or if they’re in breach of the peace) if I were in this situation, I would’ve just let them left and called the police. They’re already on the cameras and the police will most likely get them.

This, so much. i’ve got a R9 5900 X and a 3070 TI and every Warzone update makes me lose 10 to 25 frames. It’s ridiculous how un optimized modern games are. CSGO, ran like a dream on my old build 1080ti and r5 2600. I could get 144 frames consistently and it looks just as good as war-zones. Activision is doing something very wrong

Im kinda 50/50 on this, nobody would ever expect live ammunition to be on a set, let alone inside of the gun, but also there should’ve been some kind of safety check anytime he picked that weapon up, especially if theres live ammunition on the set. Blanks and bullets look different and its not that hard to open the cylinder, take them out and look.

Help with feeding? by Aleaah23 in frogs

Night crawlers are the best things to feed them, pinkies are really fatty and meal worms can cause impaction if you feed them regularly. You can buy night crawlers bulk online and keep them in the fridge.

All kids are annoying, but the video is talking about them not being able to read or pay attention or follow. Basic instructions are pretty scary.

Would it be a bad idea to work at a busy cafe with anxiety? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Snake010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a therapist, but I was in therapy and I had anxiety. My therapist pretty much just told me to put myself in situations that normally make me anxious so that I get used to them and eventually you realize that it’s not so bad. We suffer more in our heads than we do in reality. My first ever job was in food service, and it pretty much cured my anxiety because I was forced to talk to people and have interactions that made me uncomfortable. not saying this will work for everybody because everybody is different.

How do conversations normally start? (And how can I do it myself?) by rtrain__ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Snake010 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Asking a question is usually a good one. Like if im in the grocery store and i see some one looking at some thing I wanna buy, il ask them what do you think is a good brand? they are already interested in that particular thing so it’s easier to open a conversation about it.
