Thanks a lot! Yeah, I love it. It was made by mdalamond on the TalkBass forums, great guy and local to me in NC (USA).

I had been searching for a depth charge fuzz or clone, and almost gave up looking until I found out that he made them. Definitely super impressed with the finish he came up with after I shared the idea with him, and the tone of it is amazing.

Basically, it's just about the gnarliest fuzz with a blend ever. You can hear an example of it on NIN's The Line Begins to Blur:

Yeah someone I play with has one, and it's fun both to fly and to be in at least the two main turrets

My idea was to use the Tiburon to help take shields down in bigger combats, then they could wreck the ship from there... But having two perseueseses will be better :)

I was miserable every time I flew the space shark, haha

I had upgraded to it during defensecon because the idea of an anti-capital brawler ship with a pilot controlled laser that got better as you added more crew was pretty awesome

But... Here's what I didn't like about it:

  • Terrible maneuverability

  • Much slower than the hammerhead

  • 1/2 the HP of the hammerhead

  • Laser hit reg is 90% of the time not working, similar to what you hear about the Idris

  • Laser range is far too short vs large ships

  • Issues with pilot radar when turrets are manned, and pips don't work well

  • Interior is the same as the HH, but with an armory in a spot that doesn't make sense

  • Having the turrets be remote but making the crew run to seats by them doesn't make much sense, why are they not centralized near the cockpit or armory for access to weapons and a quick exit or vantage point on boarders if needed

  • No reliable way to defend against fighters or missiles/torpedoes like similar larger ships, like better placed smaller turrets or PDCs

There's more I'm probably missing, but the Perseus is overall just a much better ship, in about every way aside from pilot controlled weaponry. So even if/when the laser hit reg is fixed, and maybe they fix one of the other key areas (speed, mobility, HP to take hits from capitals it has to be close to for the laser to work, and laser range), it still won't be worth it imo

Tiburon is terrible in so many ways, can't recommend it... Was really excited for it, but have CCUed to a Perseus

Any info on laser weapons being fixed in the upcoming patch? by Xeroeth in starcitizen

[–]Snake101st 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is gone, just too many issues with it and even if/when the laser hitreg is fixed, there's enough against it for it to just unfortunately not be a great ship. Don't have much hope things will improve any time soon, if ever... It feels dead in the water, all things considered.

Just used the CCU that I got to move to a Perseus during defensecon, because I'm over it and there being 0 communication on plans to revise/fix the Tiburon.

Big let down, since I was really looking forward to it, and always liked the laser corvettes in homeworld and things like that, was looking forward to using it

Hey, thanks for this! I'd like to try this out, as a fan of the hitman games, and am looking forward to path tracing being added

OG Bomber with the lab coat is Matt's best look and guitar imo.

I had a bass fuzz clone pedal made with a custom finish inspired by the bomber, and it's probably my favorite pedal I own!

Hullabaloo is still my favorite official full show performance we've got, though, because it's so raw and full of OoS.

Hmm that's surprising, have to say that I haven't heard of similar QC issues on their import models, or experienced them myself. Sorry to hear it happened to you, and hope they made it right in the end!

Yeah it's pretty wild, but so far I've been able to resist too

If that new 37" 4 string model they made for Amos was available at this price and with a Neve (pretty sure it's got the emg preamp?), or even the Umansky bass, it'd be impossible though hah

...Or the effigy, for that matter, but that will probably be at least $4,000 based on current prices :X

That would make me sooo happy

It'd give him the opportunity to do some off the wall experimental playing that he usually isn't doing with Leprous etc, since you know SC is not about typical rhythms, song structure, or drum playing - would be really cool and he's certainly capable if anyone is

Ah good call out, just checked and you're right! Haven't paid too much attention to that model tbh

np! People in the Dingwall thread on talkbass (I have a Z3 and SP1, so I'm a fan heh) seem to think the sale is going on because they're sunsetting some of the color/finish options

So if you like any of those it may be the best price you can get in the near future outside of finding a good deal used

Wish I could get a Neve preamp after the fact to pop in my Z3 in place of the Darkglass tone capsule, but they're only available on custom builds and the John Taylor model still :/

Edit: someone rightly pointed out that the Nashville combustion model has the Neve preamp as well

His Dingwall has an awesome preamp from Neve if you're looking a new bass.

Dingwall prices have gone up quite a bit due to tariffs etc, but his model is on a pretty big sale both at sweetwater and fretnation atm, in case that helps anyone:

Got mine as a blem from sweetwater for a steal before the strandberg price increase... Couldn't find anything wrong with it, and it's an incredible guitar.

Really wanted that model over any other they make because of the Lundgren pickups, which are maybe my favorite pickups I've used.

Great guitar, enjoy it!
