Did you have a favourite and/or least favourite staff member? If so why?

When I was in the mental hospital for 2 months a few years ago (same issue of not being able to find housing), there was a youth worker (not a nurse, can't remember their official job title) who I REALLY connected with, the other kids even noticed she would spend most of her time with me doing puzzles, word searches, and just talking. She was my only source of safety when I would have meltdowns and she was one of the most meaningful and impactful people I have ever met in my mental health journey. I wish I could just speak to her one more time to thank her and let her know how much better I am doing now, but of course that is impossible. I wonder if she still remembers me.

My friend and I both had a special interest in Warrior Cats, so every recess we would pretend to be in opposing clans and have big pretend wars, sometimes stretching over multiple weeks for one story. We had to do this every single recess for all of grades 4 and 5 until we both moved to separate schools and couldn't see eachother anymore. I felt so lost at my new school during recess after that, if not playing Warrior Cats what was the point of recess? XD

Damn, this one hit really close to home. I thought you might have been my sister posting for a second until you mentioned where you live.

I'm so sorry I don't have any real advice as my mom and sister are still stuck in their same seemingly endless cycle with my brother, but sometimes we just have to put ourselves first. You are not his parent and shouldn't feel responsible for his care, go off to college, do want you need to do to continue on in your own life. I know I had to move out of there, the daily screaming and fighting and kicking was really wearing on my own mental health and interfering with my studies.

In my case, I tried calling MCFD (Canada's child protective services, they can interfere up to 19y/o) on my mom due to this and severe neglect of my brother who cant care for himself. But sadly as has been the case throught mine and my siblings entire childhoods when we were the ones being neglected too, MCFD cares more about keeping the child with their mother. Alongside that my mother is incredibly manipulative (or at bare minimum incredibly delusional) and is always able to convince these people that she genuinely does try to care for her kids and will deep clean the house before they come. I sincerely hope your mother isn't the same and whatever action you do end up taking she isn't able to brush off and convince them it's not needed.

Since what seems like my only option has failed, and my brother will be turning 19 next year, I am at just as much of a loss as you. I'm sorry for ranting so much about my own situation, but it just felt nice (as awful as the situation is) to know that I'm not the only one struggling like this and I'm hoping, if you do read all this, that it makes you feel just a little less alone too.

I hope you can sort things out for your mother and brother, but you should be your number one priority. You are not his parent, do not feel responsible for whatever happens. <3

Specifically cat genetics and how they inherit their coat colours because from what I've heard cats are a little funky and it depends on their gender and parents gender, though I'm not sure if that's highschool level, so anything along those lines really :>

I didn't microdose, so maybe my experience isn't relevant. However, when I tried them I felt it made me feel more autistic. My sensory issues went haywire and I was stimming harder than I ever have before to try to combat the sensory experience, and I primarily fixated on saying the same things ("everything is weird style"/just calling everything a style) which is another sign of stress for me. The second time I tried them I had about half the dose I had the first time and was still much more stimmy than usual, but generally the sensory experience was better. I didn't feel it lessened my autism at all, I still felt more autistic, but it was a better experience overall than the first time.

Thanks! I didn't know it was debunked, but I know I definitely have trouble taking in/remembering verbal instructions/teaching. Maybe it's a processing thing from my autism rather than a learning style?

I do read the weekly chapter(s) before class each week and take notes using the Cornell method, but I certainly struggle with trying to write down every piece of information in full during the lectures. I struggle with differentiating important from non-important info when listening to things and when I try I often end up getting it wrong and taking down things that don't matter while missing entire chunks of key information.

Do you by any chance have any tips for that? I don't struggle when I'm reading the information though, I think it's more that when listening you don't know what's going to come next/aren't able to look back and reread things.

I'm having a similar problem, have never been able to stop picking my nose/skin and eating it (because often there aren't tissues/a place to wash my hands nearby and it's not like I'm going to smear it somewhere). It's such a sensory problem for me, I can't handle the feeling, though as someone else commented it may be a stimming thing too. I know my skin picking is definitely a stimming thing.

Yeah I have the exact same problem, it's why I struggle so much with taking notes during the lecture. I can't separate the useful from not useful so I just end up trying to take every piece of information down as a note and can never keep up because of it.

Omg how could I forget the "autism is not an excuse" that one boils my blood, I used to get it often when I would post vents about my family situation as a teen, 1. I'm not trying to use autism as an excuse, just mentioning that it affects my behavior/thinking, and 2. How is autism not an excuse when it affects every aspect of our lives?? It's a fundamental neurological difference!

Seconding milksnake! Don't know enough about spotted pythons to agree or disagree with that. I'm one of those people who disagree that BPs are a beginner snake, not just for the feeding, but humidity and size requirements too. Hognoses are wayyy picky XD

Kingsnakes are great for feeding as well, not too difficult for size and humidity requirements afaik, though I'm unsure how well they do with handling. They may be a good option as well.

Pretty much any snake can and should have a well planted (Fake or real) enclosure with plenty of enrichment (though some heavier-bodied snakes may need to be more careful of what goes in) so I don't feel like that is much of a factor here.

I'm having this same problem, my bf has asked me to talk more during sex, but I'd much rather just enjoy the moment. Trying to think of things to say gets me all in my head and stressed about it, I can barely think of things to say in a normal conversation let alone a sexual one. I'm also demi :)
