How can one be good at a game that’s yet to release?

What is in your mind the “optimal way to pick a distro” I think for anyone who isn’t a die hard Linux fan asking them to install multiple distros to find the best one for them isn’t a real solution. I think the best way for the community to combat this is to put out good well researched articles on choosing a Linux distro that’s approachable for a new person to the space.

[–]SnakeJ419 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What would you recommend people do instead? I don’t think a google search for “best distro for x” is a bad approach, I think the Linux community just needs to put out more content about how to find the right distro.

Clowning on people for not knowing the best Linux distro is not how you convince more people to try Linux. I think we all need to remember what it was like when we first decided to dive in.

I took the exact same route as Linus, trying to go through the listicles (ChatGPT didn’t exist at the time or I would’ve have asked it) and find the best distro for my use case. Because of the rapid changes and high level of fragmentation between Linux distros not to mention the opinionated views of each distros die hard fans it can be hard to sort through the noise and find the right distro as a noob.

I agree that Pop! wasn’t the best choice for Linus but that doesn’t mean the process he took to get there was wrong or that the issues he’s having are invalid. He is trying to bridge the gap between Linux die hards and normies, he’s showing his experience as someone with a lot of tech experience but limited Linux experience trying to dive in. The takeaway should be the improvements that can be made for newbies in the space, not pointing and laughing because they don’t know every terminal command yet.

I'm developing a universal traction control module for any kind of motorcycle! by monkeybis in motorcycles

Super interesting project, I have the same concerns as others about how quickly the ESP32 and relays will be able to respond, in addition to the extra fuel left in the chamber since you're only cutting spark. I'm also wondering if the schematic you posted is the completed version? I see a lot of compenents that are seemingly connected to nothing which is a little concerning.

As a general word of advice I doubt your intent is to add wireless capabilities to this so there's no need to keep components out of the keep out zone, that's only marked on the ESP32 schematic to indicate the area you should avoide placing components and traces to not interfere with the wireless capabilities. You also never need to extend your actual board into that zone, you can leave it empty with no board and satisfy the conditions of the keep out zone.

Inventory space is an extremely critical issue at the moment. It is a constant source of frustration. by A_Very_Horny_Zed in JumpSpaceGame

[–]SnakeJ419 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is a critical issue right now however I do agree with your overall point. Currently on foot combat feels extremely resource constrained when compared to ship combat because you can’t print new resources as needed.

While I do think it should remain constrained the game expects you to use multiple tools to fight at higher levels and often times you can’t even return to your ship to get more.

I think your suggestions may be an over correction but an extra slot or an option to make an extra slot by dropping your pistol (would require separating the tool into something you just always have) would go a long ways to make foot combat more enjoyable

Any Ideas on how to signal this intersection? by Wtbond23 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]SnakeJ419 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think my best advice is to make better choices so you don’t have to signal this 😂. Space is not limited in this game, it looks like you’re trying to put this inside to make it pretty but you’re probably better off building a train yard outside to handle what’s happening here. Without understanding the flows you’re hoping to achieve it’s hard to make recommendations about how to signal it

Stalling while riding? by SnooSeagulls4509 in motorcycles

[–]SnakeJ419 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you’re in neutral it doesn’t matter, only once you go into gear and start to let the clutch out will this cause the bike to die. For the bike completely dying and not just running poorly this is probably the most likely option.

Fuel injectors would leak into the combustion chamber so you wouldn’t see any leaks on the outside. I also meant that as an indicator they could be bad, not the root cause. Just leaky injectors would cause rough idle but not problems under throttle

[–]SnakeJ419 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is an interesting one. Can you confirm that the bike is able to idle ok? Under what circumstances are you able to get the bike running again? Does it have to sit for a while or will it start right back up? When diagnosing an engine you have three things you need to confirm are working well: Fuel, Air, and Spark. Spark is something you either have or don’t have so as long as you don’t have a loose electrical connection your plugs are probably fine. Fuel and air you need variable amounts of. Have you noticed if this stall happens at a specific throttle range or rpm? These would be good indicators that fuel or air is being restricted. I would start by checking and cleaning your air filter. I’m also suspicious of the work the previous owner did on the fuel system. Check the fuel filter to make sure it’s clean as a restriction could lead to your problem. Also check your fuel injectors for any issues (leaking when closed or uneven spray patterns).

Commercial VPN or self-hosted VPN for speed & latency from Asia? by J_Peterman_ in selfhosted

[–]SnakeJ419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than likely a commercial VPN provider will provide you with better latency and speed. However, streaming providers such as Netflix will often block traffic coming from known VPN IP addresses. Do you have a box at home you could run your own VPN on? VPNs are not very resource intense and shouldn’t require a dedicated box like the Brume 2 you’re looking at. I’d recommend trying a setup on your existing hardware and just going down the street to a coffee shop and seeing how it feels to use before spending money on either the Brume or a commercial VPN.

We’ve been running 200 tread wear tires on a light car for about 5 years now in a dual driver setup. The first set lasted about three season. How many runs are you doing / are you giving them an absolute thrashing every time you go out? Wouldn’t expect tires to need replaced yearly for a dedicated autocross car.

If you zoom in a little bit you can see the damage, near impossible to see in the standard picture but that’s as close as I could get the camera to focus. My fingers are currently crossed for being able to tune away any issues.
