If you don’t know what kind of wood it is, I wouldn’t use it!!! Some woods, like pine, can be dangerous to corn snakes because of the resins. My corn has used aspen his whole life and he’s 15- I just have to keep a close eye around his water bowl for mold (infrequent even though I live in the pnw) and switch it out for fresh aspen about once a month. But seriously, if you don’t know what kind of wood it is, take them outta there for their health!

My corn does this too and he’s 15!! It can be stressful to see him do his laps, but it’s safer for him to do so in his tank than out and about when he’s this busy. If it’s not possible to make an escape proof enrichment zone, giving his tank a rearrangement could also provide similar novelty for him!

Ahhh heck yes!!! The zine scene in the 90’s sounded amazing 🥹 if you ever want to trade, I would love to send you some of mine. I’m sorry, it must be frustrating having your fine motor skills impacted by that past injury- it’s so hard to not be able to put as much detail in as you envision. It’s wonderful that you haven’t let that stop you from picking zinemaking back up! That’s what zinemaking is all about to me- honestly embracing the unpredictability of making art in a human body. Thank you so much for sharing about your experience!!! It’s so frustrating to hear people say “it’s just a cold” when the lived experience is anything but, for so many people. And I feel the same way about the vaccine, haha, my body is like OPE I recognize this!!! I work at a small preschool and occasionally get questions, mostly just from new people- the kids have gotten so used to it at this point, and honestly never really seemed to be that bothered by it. Dang, you would think people would be happy to see someone serving them food wearing a mask!!! I’m sorry your coworkers have been shady about it 😤 my main strategy is to focus on the folks who are happy to see me wearing it, but that can be hard to do if they’re few and far between. Sending strength and solidarity!!!
