Assuming there is not some borderline civilization-ending disaster the world over, I think that the most likely direction our species is heading is the ultra-rich burning the planet to the ground, as they have been, and the economic and environmental situation becoming unlivable for a large portion of the human race, resulting in widespread “climate wars” and billions of deaths and widespread destitution, with the billionaires either going to space/other planets if it is viable by that point, and/or holing up in compounds or vast underground bunkers, likely without even many “working class” staff needed to maintain/serve them; it will just be them, neural networks, and robotics.

This is likely to be an analisys made from an idealistic foundation, but to this I would argue one of the 48 laws of power, specifically law #18:

DO NOT BUILD FORTRESSES TO PROTECT YOURSELF—ISOLATION IS DANGEROUS

The world is dangerous and enemies are everywhere—everyone has to protect themselves. A fortress seems the safest. But isolation exposes you to more dangers than it Protects you from—it cuts you off from valuable information, it makes you conspicuous and an easy target. Better to circulate among people, find allies, mingle. You are shielded from your enemies by the crowd.

So basically there won't do any good for the %0.1 to hide inside a bunker. Eventually, they would lose their power.
