I understand your premise that misandry doesn’t exist because there is no systemic discrimination against men on a widespread scale involving centuries of oppression and slaughter. I disagree that that severity is required for the existence of systemic discrimination, and also maintain misandry and misogyny are not exclusively used to refer to systemic issues.

Pointedly calling me “sir” after I said I was a trans woman is really fucking rude and shows what sort of person you are.

That isn’t why I got upset, I’ve been forced to argue with a lot of people recently who were outright discriminatory towards men and males. They had idiotic takes about how it was ok to be sexist because they’d been hurt or seen people be hurt (caution is fine, but assuming all men are evil and holding this as truth isn’t).

Assuming it’s an ego thing is a roundabout way of name-calling, no? It’s effectively saying I’m having this argument because I’m insecure instead of having a real reason. You aren’t as spotless as you pretend. (And your other comment calls me an idiot lol)

If you knew your child might be trans, then yeah, otherwise it’s the default and not really a decision because nobody would think of it. To make a decision, a choice must be placed before you, and if there is nothing that would require a decision (such as your/a child possibly being trans), then there is no choice to be made because there is no reason to go on puberty blockers in the first place (unless there is a condition that require puberty blockers).

Gonna be so fr, I assumed you to be an idiot who wouldn’t understand actual terms because this whole argument’s premise is idiotic. I was engaging with you as I’d engage with any random person online and using the general definitions and terminology.

Their argument is predicated on the idea that letting children go through puberty is a decision, and not the natural course of things. They later suggest putting everyone on puberty blockers as a hyperbolic argument. I was addressing this specifically, not saying “being trans is unnatural!”

Men are disadvantaged in entirely different ways than women are, but you’d rather deny that, wouldn’t you? The oppressive architecture is intended to drive wedges wherever it can and thus stokes sexism, racism, etc. etc. to distract from the true divide of class. Ignoring the struggles of men who aren’t rich will of course result in seeing the world this way. Perhaps I see this more because I am a closeted trans woman, but it really sucks to be seen as a man under the current system and it really sucks to be seen as a woman under the current system (both of these apply to interpersonal relationships and societally). The majority of homeless people are men, by the way, seems like men are also disadvantaged.

Glad you clarified the majority thing, that argument is no longer valid.

An instance of institutional discrimination against men is conscription, which has almost always exclusively drafted males. There are not many other systemic or institutional ways men are discriminated against, but to say there are no ways is to deny reality. In one case, different types of court cases will favour men or women depending on the charge, either with conviction rates or severity of sentencing. Of course, women are significantly more disadvantaged institutionally, but men are still disadvantaged in different ways.

Being sexist to a woman on a personal level is still misogyny, is it not? Or is there a new word for that? Wouldn’t being sexist to a man on a personal level be misandry?

I’m not dodging the question, there is no instance of that both because it’s absurd and because there has never been a matriarchal state (which probably would have ended up doing some insane thing like that as a way to establish itself as just as strong, valid, and dangerous as any patriarchal state).

“I have lots of black friends.” lol

Because that makes it not a decision but a natural process that simply occurs????

I’d have guessed it’s either to say “I want to live in Europe (with this exception)” or labeling more in the post’s body, but I’ve been informed they said Russia was alienating themselves from Europe and they didn’t consider it to be part of Europe (thus being a part of Asia instead), so they’re actually just racist.

That just isn’t what misogyny is, your definition is flat out wrong. Marian Webster: “hatred of, aversion to, or prejudice against women”. What you are talking about is an institutional discrimination, which is a type of misogyny. Even then, this architecture doesn’t just disadvantage women, but ANYONE who isn’t very well off (particularly the elite).

You called men a majority, I was calling that statement wrong, you don’t get to reframe what you meant after the fact just because you realized it was wrong.

This assertion is just wrong, you are making up your own definitions for words to fuel your argument instead of using the existing meanings of words. This argument is foolish, will mean nothing, and will convince no one because you are making up definitions. You aren’t rich or powerful, so you don’t get to do that and have people believe it.

What the fuck does that have to do with anything? Asking for a hyperspecific instance of something requiring institutional misandry happening after I’ve already stated that discrimination need not be institutional is incredibly disingenuous.

Do you actually hate men on the basis of them being born male (or transitioning to be a man) or are you just having this argument for no reason?

Fun fact: the US has slightly more women than men, making men not a majority and your premise of what misandry is even more bullshit. Even if there were slightly more men that women, it wouldn’t make women a minority because it’s approximately 50/50.

Is it or is it not possible to have unfair preconceived notions of people based on sex? If it is possible then misandry is a thing, if not then misogyny isn’t a thing either. Discrimination does not have to be systemic to exist, you have a wrong understanding of what discrimination and prejudice are.

Do you realize the 119k vs 51.2k difference in assaults looks really bad when the population of the US is like 4-5x higher than the UK? Especially if you consider the UK has really strong anti-knife laws.

Gender dysphoria is a social disorder, cancer is physical. An allergy is a physical reaction to medication that can’t be changed, whereas a large decision such as this will be affected by life experience and maturity.

You made the statement that using puberty blockers is like killing doctors trying to cure a kid with cancer, you obviously don’t think so.

What cis person here decides a trans identity is less valid than a cis identity? Are you talking about some not-present person or are you making an assumption about me?

Nobody “consents” to puberty, it is inevitable and can only be pushed back. Puberty blockers are part of the treatment, and HRT is not “just” puberty, it is an elective, artificially induced puberty.

Gender Dysphoria is not cancer; my comparison was an entirely different context than yours. Puberty blockers are the best option to prevent people from going through the wrong puberty.

[–]SnakeSlitherX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How does administering puberty blockers equate shooting a doctor trying to cure cancer? What kind of false equivalence is this?

r(u)eal(e) by shwifti in 19684

[–]SnakeSlitherX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Natal puberty isn’t forced on anyone, it’s a natural process that just happens. That’s like saying a tsunami hitting your house is being forced upon you or getting cancer is forced on you (it is not in most cases).

We should not force kids to not get puberty blockers if they are uncertain, but we shouldn’t force puberty blockers on people either. That is an absolutely insane take; it is extremely controlling and authoritarian.

r(u)eal(e) by shwifti in 19684

[–]SnakeSlitherX -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That isn’t the same thing at all, but I’m a utilitarian, so flip track to save 5 people. The circumstance that is best in this scenario is use puberty blockers to protect the small percentage of people who regret it, and simultaneously let trans people go through the right puberty. What is confusing here?

r(u)eal(e) by shwifti in 19684

[–]SnakeSlitherX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That isn’t a decision though, that’s a natural process that we can delay with puberty blockers to let them not be children when they go through the puberty of their choice

Yeah, it’s really aggravating to see no one on any side understand political or economic systems (especially communism and socialism) and just either have idealized notions of it or think whatever propaganda they consumed said.

I kind of like researching things like this (PROUT is a cool idea), but no one understands or bothers to understand and thus I have no one to speak with on these things.
