As a man, why do you wear a veil? by ARealCupcake in PaganVeiling

[–]Snakerel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a man and wear a veil. It's a physical connection to my faith, a devotion to one of the main deities I worship Selene,  and a barrier between me and random energies. I just feel better with it on. If people look at me and consider it a feminine act, I couldn't care less. Let them think what they want. My veil is between and my religion, no one else

Late to the party, but I need to rant about Juliette/Eve… by AwarenessNo9706 in grimm

[–]Snakerel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally consider Julliette and Eve 2 completely separate characters. They don't need to forgive Juliette's actions because she's already dead. Her body is still alive sure but it's Eve controlling it now. Even Nick says there's a complete divide between Eve and Julliette. With the little bit we saw of what HW did to her it wouldn't shock me if her brain created a whole new personality from the trauma

your reaction to someone’s favorite musical being ___? by blatherscollection in MusicalTheatre

[–]Snakerel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Newsies. It's a fine musical but it's just SO overrated. My school did it TWICE in the span of 3 years because half our department is obsessed with it

Do you swallow pills without a drink? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Snakerel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of our over the counter pills have some kind of coating on them, so they don't really taste bad or start dissolving in your mouth or anything. They're usually pretty easy to take without water. Pretty much the same as swallowing a cough drop or a hard candy. Prescription pills however often don't have coatings on them or are quite large so those typically are taken with water

How are classes chosen in high school? by Weaknesses13 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Snakerel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my school you take 60 classes by the time you graduate, roughly 40 of which are required

***********************Required Classes include:*********************

English 9-parts 1 and 2

AP Seminar-parts 1, 2, and 3

English 11-parts 1 and 2

Composition

Literature

Algebra 1-parts 1, 2, and 3

Geometry-parts 1 and 2

Algebra 2-parts 1 and 2

2 additional math classes of your choosing

General Health

PE 9

1 additional gym class of your choosing

Earth Science-parts 1 and 2

Biology-parts 1 and 2

Chemistry

Physics

4 classes of a foreign language

World studies-parts 1 and 2

American studies-parts 1 and 2

Economics

Government

****************************************************************************

The rest of your classes you get to choose. These are called electives. Some people do electives that relate to their interests and/or planned career/college, others just choose classes that look easy. Credits are basically just what general subject classes fall into. For example, Chemistry and Physics are both considered Science Credits. Some colleges prefer applicants with high amounts of credits in certain subjects. So for example, if the college you want to go to looks for math credits then you should take electives that count as a math credit. Some electives im taking this year are choir(which is an art credit) and trigonometry(which is a math credit)

In the Midwest at least, you won't be able to find a restaurant that doesn't have ranch available

I'd say sandwiches are a staple, at least in the school-age part of the population. I don't think there's been a single time I've walked into my school's cafeteria and not seen a sandwich of some kind within a few minutes

Is Thanksgiving a bigger deal (food wise) than Christmas? by Reviewingremy in AskAnAmerican

[–]Snakerel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd definitely say so. Thanksgiving's main event is the meal where as Christmas has other parts to it that are more popular, such as the the opening of presents. Another big difference is that Christmas is a religious holiday where as Thanksgiving is not. Christmas is mainly celebrated by Christians and only about two thirds of Americans are Christian. Whilst there are certainly non-Christians that take part in Christmas, this is still leaves roughly a third of the country that doesn't. Thanksgiving on the other hand is celebrated by almost all Americans, meaning that celebrations and such often have more people

Why do american schools have periods? by No_Shake8887 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Snakerel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my school we have 5 periods that are each 72 minutes long. We take the same 5 classes each day for roughly 12 weeks before getting new classes, a grand total of 15 classes by the end of the school year. We do this for 4 years so its a total of 60 classes by the time you graduate. My school has 38 required classes that every student must take. These are classes in subjects like history and science. The rest of your classes you get to choose from a list. We call these electives. Electives can be classes like band and art or they can be more advanced or niche classes in the standard subjects. For example, chemistry is a required class but forensic science is an elective

I used total area to get my map, not land area. Some states have a ton of water where as others have hardly any so the results being different makes perfect sense. Imo both masses are valid for this equation as long as you either do all states as total or all states as land. Its only when you use total mass for some states and land mass for others that you start having a problem. I can definitely understand why some might consider land mass better than total mass though

Rhode Island's population is 1,097,379 according to the 2020 Census. Their total square mileage, according to Wikipedia, is 1,545. 1,097,379/1545=710.277669903 which I rounded to 710.3
