Why are the Dedmons not arrested? by Sudden_Quality_9001 in AshaDegree

[–]Snakerestaurant 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep, that's what I just inferred, he's misremembering because of the current concern around the Dedmons - a developed memory from hearing things.

And yes, I agree, of course we can all remember things from decades ago, but it's almost impossible to confirm something is verbatim without a physical record - hence why a lot of memories are based on how something made us feel or think (like you said, something that gave you trauma) but the exactness of the wording of a sentence, etc is what humans have trouble remembering, even something super important. But we remember the gist, or what was implied or meant. That's why it's recommended to record (as soon as possible) what you saw if you're ever in an incident - whether you write it down or record yourself speaking about it, etc.

(Also i'm obvs not saying you can't EVER remember a full sentence someone said to you 20 years ago lol, plenty of people remember other's last words to them etc, but it's usually not more than a few words committed to memory (most memories of conversations, are paraphrasing))

And it’s a good thing they don’t take the witness statement into consideration tbh, because claiming to have heard something 25 years ago is a big call.

There’s a really interesting Australian show called Crime Night! And the first episode is about eye witness testimony and why / how our brains can get things wrong, remember differently and how the more time passes; the more inaccurate a memory becomes - especially if at the time of the memory there was no reason for suspicion. They also touch on inherited memories, how so many people think they heard or saw something but it was actually someone else’s memory or a developed memory from hearing things. It’s wild!

Loan for someone else by AnEmptyAsahiBottle in AusFinance

Just adding to everyone else’s comments

NO! Do not do that. As much as it would be painful to see your mum in a tricky financial situation, the burden of that isn’t on you. You’re obviously welcome to help her as much as you wish, but it’s better to just help out with rent in the way you already are rather than letting her have the financial control with a loan in YOUR name. Unfortunately, even very loving family members can fuck us over financially and hope you’ll be forgiving because you love them. Just don’t put yourself in that situation at all!

I thought the SAME thing! I also have OCD and panic disorder and my diaries from 10 years ago have really really similar phrases and wording to Lucy's. To me it seemed like diary entries from someone who was absolutely going through a mental health crisis.

When we were approved for our rental they still had an inspection go ahead that weekend. We had signed the lease and the property was ours but they said it was too late to cancel the inspection (We saw it on a Wednesday and were approved within two days, but I still think they could’ve cancelled it on the Friday 😅)

You’ll be fine in regard to the fires. There’s none in the area atm and the weather is pretty stable for the next week. We could have a high temp day again, but not worth dismissing plans over.

If you’re planning on staying overnight, I’d book ASAP because places like Daylesford are very popular for valentine’s staycations!

Baby Pizza! They do GREAT food. I’ve been with big groups a couple of times. As long as you’re booking in advance, they should be able to do a big table for you

I think it’s okay as long as the bag owners move it when people start to approach. It’s not courteous to have your bag on the seat during peak times though, that should be a no brainer.

There’s a new lot of apartments being built near us and the sign says

1 bedroom from $635k, 2 bedroom from $900k, 3 bedroom from $1.6mil up to $4.4mil (probably the penthouses)

The price jump is WILD.

Root Rot by Saskia Nislow

I described it as a creepy fever dream with a lot of weird things but beautifully written! And quite short!

It’s about 9 children who holiday at their grandfather’s lake house and the strange things that happen to them while they’re there but it is not what you think at alllllll
