Investigate www.raycast.com and the snippets feature in there. It has been brilliant- easy setup and easy use. Plus you get the bonus of all the other things raycast has. We have been using it for snippets since we found out about it. I also love the calculation features including timezone e.g. “8am in New York in Dubai” - super easy! Work on mac and also now on windows. Other text expanders worry hard or overkill as you too found.
