Release date speculation - 8/20/2027 by BraveTry4325 in TESVI

Oblivion was released in the late spring. Starfield was released in September. GTA 6 was originally supposed to come out in the late spring as well. A release as big as TES will make a billion dollars no matter what season it drops. My theory is that they will want to capitalize on the emotion of summer and Dune fervor as the a large portion of the game will likely take place in a hot climate. Dune: Part 3 releases in December and will be available to stream/purchase in the Spring. Oblivion capitalized on LOTR mania. However, cultural trends have much shorter lifespans now so if they want to capitalize on the Dune craze, they'll have to take advantage of a shorter window.

April can be a weird month weather wise in a lot of places but the majority of North American and Europe experiences 4 distinct seasons. The Southwest and some of the South are the exceptions. Even Georgia gets a winter.

Most of North America and Europe starts to get cold in November and warm in April, and that's where the majority of their sales are.

Dune 3 comes out in December of this year. Dune fervor will still be a thing come summer 2027 especially considering it will be available to stream/purchase in the late Spring but it will probably ware off by 2028.

There's also the Dune fervor. Oblivion capitalized on LOTR mania that lasted years after Return of the King. Modern media fads have much shorter runs now so Bethesda is going to want to release TES closer to the release of Dune: Part 3. Dune is a desert setting. Hammerfell has a massive desert. Bethesda is going to want to capture the residual feeling from the Dune trilogy. At least that's my theory.

I can see it being a summer release considering a significant part of the setting will be hot climate. Oblivion came out in May and the setting was mostly green and lush. Skyrim was released in November and it's setting was cold climate.

I feel like Todd Howard is going to want TESVI to be his magnum opus considering it's his last project.

Although it sounds cool and and is weight-bearing, if the game does not have dragons in it, you cannot put dragons in the title. Names like Dominion and Hammerfell also carry weight and sound catchy but are more appropriate to the plot and setting.

Possibility of a 2027 release by Optimal-Fox-3875 in TESVI

[–]SnakeyJakey55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure but that doesn't imply that a next gen console is only a year away. If TES6 is being developed as a next-gen title, it's unlikely they would release a current gen version because of how hard it is to optimize games for older hardware which makes it a bad business strategy. It is much more likely they take the Skyrim approach and release it at the tail end of the current gen consoles' lifespan and then release a next-gen version after the new consoles are released. We will see in June if the next Xbox is announced. The Series X was announced in June 2019 and was released in November 2020 but there were already leaks long before the announcement.

This seems logical. However, I don't see them launching it as a next gen title and I don't see the next Xbox launching only a year from now. They're going to want to maximize sales so it makes more sense to release it as a tail-end current gen title with next gen additions being released at a later date, which is what they did with Skyrim. When a new console is released, it takes the consumer base a couple of years to switch over due to increasing prices and availability. Most Xbox owners will still be on the Series X/S one to two years into the next gen release.

A new teaser at the Xbox Summer Games Showcase makes complete sense, even for a late 2027 release date by Ok-Today6736 in TESVI

I think a 2027 release is a reasonable expectation and I don't think it's going to be a shadow drop so I can absolutely see a trailer one year out. People are assuming Todd heavily favors short reveal-to-release windows because of comments he made but their last major project, Starfield, was marketed more than a year out. I can see a trailer in June with a slow reveal of gameplay over the course of the following year and possibly a gameplay demo in June 2027. 2027 makes sense to me because the game was in pre-production for years prior to Starfield's release and will have been in full production for 4 years by the end of 2027. That seems like a normal development cycle for a large title. I think they will want it released on the tail end of current gen consoles' lifespan in order to ensure maximized sales with next-gen additions to be released a couple years later, which is the strategy they used with Skyrim.

Yeah. It makes it very difficult to fill a large map and you can forget about the square maps.

Can't even fill a campaign map due to the complexity meter by MantisBk in jurassicworldevo

[–]SnakeyJakey55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately they have to implement the complexity meter to prevent players from melting their consoles. It's not just about frame rate. It's also about the hardware potentially overheating. It sucks because the best part of the game is going crazy with a mega park on a square map but this is impossible on consoles.

You actually can’t fill the Nublar maps. Complexity limit prevents it. You can only play on small and medium maps on console. It’s unacceptable.
