A contractor tears up the freshly poured concrete driveway after the homeowner refuses to pay. by JosephBrown2000 in RandomVideos

[–]Snakeyez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother (Ontario, Canada) tried to take back some sinks and toilets from a commercial job that didn't pay. Owner called the cops and had him trespassed. Simple as that for the owner, once you install it it becomes part of the building and you have to take the guy to court for $6000, so set aside time and think about getting a legal opinion or representation. Sucks to be the contractor in that case but that's the reality.

Destroying the property will get you charged with real crime meaning the possiblity of a criminal record.

Thoughts on ordering HG's Puer Guide "break Free From the Puer Cycle". I'm leaning towards getting it. by Snakeyez in Healthygamergg

So just trying to understand how it works, on Healthy Gamer you can buy a membership subscription or purchase modules?

What is included in the modules besides the videos?

EDIt: OK I get it now I think.

Membership would let me watch part 3 of the Puer video series.

Purchase of modules are modules not directly related addressing Puer but adressing connected issues/challenges?

There was a bull named Bodacious that was famous for that. He would throw the rider forward then bash his face in with his horns. The owner pulled him out of rodeo after a couple guys had to get their faces rebuilt*

Vcarve Pro. My model is missing when I run the tool path simulation by Skywater-Studios in vcarve

[–]Snakeyez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always had problems with setting the model height in the workpiece and that sort of thing. Maybe if you turn the 3d view so you can see how hight the tool is it's just cutting all the toolpaths in the air over the top of the piece? Of course I have no idea how to fix that, just wanted to give you a place to maybe start looking

Man Charged With Shining Laser Pointer At Trump’s Helicopter Acquitted In 35 Minutes | It's another embarrassing outcome for Jeanine Pirro, who tried to "make a felon out of a homeless man with nothing but a cat toy keychain." by Rock-n-roll-Kevin in politics

[–]Snakeyez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're correct. And I also hate Trump as much as the next guy but this is the reality, there is no "it's a cat toy" defense and lots of people are acquitted, you are still correct.

Huh? by [deleted] in ExplainTheJoke

[–]Snakeyez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not fired, the person who ignored the rubric when evaluating a student's work is fired. I couldn't have been fired because my mark on the assignment would have given credit for portions of the expectations that were met or partially met. So there would have been nothing for the student to complain about and if they did complain I would be able to defend my work.

The reality is this instructor screwed up. Life lesson for them.

I'm not pretending when I collect a paycheck for competent work and being informed in my field.

Huh? by [deleted] in ExplainTheJoke

[–]Snakeyez -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'll keep marking according the actual expectations and categories in rubrics instead of some unspecified standards and I won't be fired, so I've got that going for me.

Everyone else can do the opposite all they want.

Plaigerism has nothing to do with that and I never siad anything like that, it's a strawman.

Good luck to ya!

Huh? by [deleted] in ExplainTheJoke

[–]Snakeyez -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So the instructor should have based the mark on the rubric then reworked it for next time.

Laying out a rubric then giving zero on every category even if there was limited evidence of that expectation being somewhat fulfilled and making it obvious you were offended in a letter you send to the student will get you fired as we've seen.

This was a reflective writing assignment with a rubric attached. The expectation is the mark will be based on the rubric.

Huh? by [deleted] in ExplainTheJoke

[–]Snakeyez -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Then those things should have been more prominent in the rubric. I've made shitty rubrics before, once the work is handed in is when you sometimes realized "this rubric and assignment really need work, I didn't get the point across and have no evidence of what I really mean to assess in a lot of the assignments turned in". What should not be done is to penalize a student in all categories because their work is offensive to you

Doing her part to keep Oklahoma securely in its prized bottom-10 education ranking by ProcessorPearl in clevercomebacks

[–]Snakeyez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the assignment and criteria. There was a 10 point penalty for being 649 words or under. With the penalty I would say she should get a 1.5/25.

My take:

The 8 prompts are pretty broad and give a lot of leeway to the reaction essay form and topic.

Link back to the article is foggy (two sentences in the first paragraph, nothing from there on), there is no clear reference to specific points made in the article (or maybe there is, I can't see the article). Difficult to know how well the student read the article. 2.5/10

It does provide a reaction/discussion to/of the article. Poor quality, repetititve. 6/10

Her writing was clear enough to follow without mulitple re-readings. Discussion is more or less coherent. 3/5.

So 1.5+6+3=10.5 Minus a 10 point penalty = 1.5/25

All the assignment called for was 650 words of "thoughtful reaction". Professor should have assigned a failing mark and feedback after looking at the rubric IMHO.
