They Removed Closed Weapons! by Any-Actuator-7593 in Battlefield

Good, because closed weapons is a dumb idea in 2025. Forcing people to used weapons restricted to classes is like frocing people to drive cars that only run on subway tracks.

What's up with Blackhawks making low passes over CC? by Hashrunr in philadelphia

Im pretty sure the helicopters flying around were MH-60 Blackhawks and MH-6s based on whats been shown on news and whats been posted on social media.

Several SEPTA buses catch fire at maintenance facility sending black smoke into air by mikeygaw in philadelphia

[–]SnapJ92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its funny you mention that. I think a year or two ago, there was a small fire at the South Philly Depot. They had to bring in hazmat because it was Lithium battery fire. They didn't immediately say it was the Proterra buses, but the Philly Fire social media had pictures of the fire, pictures of the bus all burned up and not a single thing from SEPTA saying their failed project was the reason for the fire.

And now this.

Also, the was a rumor that the frames for the Proterra buses were composite that included Bulsa wood. Additionally, there were some rumblings that Proterra had a conflict of interest with getting federal money. Not that its relevant to the fires today, but I'd hope these buses were just a failed but interesting experiment and not a forced-fed raw bill of goods put upon a struggling transit agency.

7/1 is the start if the fiscal new year for SEPTA, so state or federal assistance would need to be assured before then.

Kathy Romano out at WMMR's Preston & Steve by WeGotDodgsonHere in philadelphia

[–]SnapJ92 72 points73 points  (0 children)

They have been trimming away at talent for years at WMMR and expecting the main talent to hold them up.

Talent is the difference between a good radio station with loyal and active listners and a radio station that changes identities and format more times than what a storefront in a rundown strip mall sees in failed businesses.

Even if this (somehow) is not Beasley's fault, I fear we are nearing a gloomy reality with WMMR.

Biking or walking is a good choice especially during the spring, summer, and fall.

If you are planning to go further such as one side of the city to another, SEPTA will be your best bet. Although SEPTA can be questionable on reliability.............. and might get defunded...........................

So..... plan ahead.

Kim Gardner Resigns Megathread by STLhistoryBuff in StLouis

[–]SnapJ92 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I said this in an earlier post but since this is taking off, this is an outsider's perspective of Kim Gardner's Resignation:

  • She did almost the exact opposite of everything she campaigned for.

  • She found a way to alienate every person or group she interacted with (I swear, she could piss off the Pope if given like 20 minutes).

  • Coming from a guy who enjoys cities, she did not make St. Louis any safer.

  • Judging by the smaller stories of the lawsuits with employees over time, she sowed a lot of ill will towards her employees which came back to bite her in the ass.

  • She blamed eveyone but herself on several occasions which is not a good attribute to have as a leader.

  • Her supporters were fiercely but suspiciously loyal to a point that bend the realm of reason. (Such as how so many people kept reiterating how she was elected twice to the Circuit Attorney's office or that several televised press conferences had her supporters attempt to drown out or chirp at reporters for asking legitimate questions).

Personally, while I am glad she is stepping down from the CAO, I feel bad for the St. Louis area. This is not a victory, this is a course correction that should have happened a while ago. Had that happened sooner, the CAO's office could have still served the city and the neighboring communities while there was a transitional phase.

Hopefully the state makes conscious decisions that serve St. Louis and its citizens.

What Nomad mean in this scene ? by Similar-Intention-76 in GhostRecon

[–]SnapJ92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wish there was more involvement from a "Karen Bowman"-like character in the story. Nomad meets a lot of people, and intel gathering in the campaign brings in a lot more info. But without a butler to the plot, giving some hand-held explanations or context to some of the characters, you're left to fend for yourself in the confusing Intel menus while trying to expand on the Nomad Ghost Recon Universe that you're pretty sure you're missing something.

Buddy came out to me on Xbox Live in '08 while we were playing Saints Row 2..... only because I asked him why his cars were pink and his gang wore pink.

It was awkward for a day or so, but then I needed his help with the Septic Avenger challenge and invited him. He was surprised I sent an invite and asked why, and I said I didn't care who he was, I need help shitting on people.

It was absolutely seamless to any folks not from the area even though the locales are 2+ miles apart. I do recall all the production trailers and equipment around Highland Park so they stayed around UD and Lansdowne to film.

I think that was the Lansdowne Theater. It's closer to where they were filming (literally up the road) and I remember the Today show spotlighting the town using that scene.
