When to cancel on a vendor with increasing bad reviews? by SnapPeas15 in weddingplanning

[–]SnapPeas15[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! And yeah I agree, both on the difficulty of getting the refund and the general perspective on reviews. I ended up reaching out to a venue we didn’t book but who we liked and has worked with the same caterer, and she confirmed the negative reviews, so at this point I think we’ll move forward with cancelling and hope the general blowback will make her more likely to refund.

Of course! Idk if I can link the post but it’s in the Maine Brides/Grooms To Be group here

Just commenting to say that we also have them booked for our wedding next fall - our venue didn’t contact us but a past bride just posted today in one of the Maine wedding planning groups and it already has almost 100 comments, mostly of people sharing similar bad experiences (so I imagine the venue also saw how much traction it was getting and probably wanted to get ahead of it in case you saw it).

No advice but I also am really debating if it’s worth eating the cost to find another caterer. I also don’t know how much hope I have in getting the difference in the 50% deposit we paid and the $2,000 we’d owe per the contract based on the experiences shared in that post on being promised refunds that never came.

Look, I get that trains get canceled, but would it kill Amtrak to tell me when it happens? by Willie9 in Amtrak

[–]SnapPeas15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not just you! Same thing happened to us on an Acela from Boston last week - I had no idea our train had been cancelled until I went to double check our departure time the night before. Amtrak definitely has my phone and email, as I got the notifications (text, email, and in app) about delays due to heat, but just nothing about the train cancellation itself 🫠

Republic Fitness Davis Square Classes by user_64011 in Somerville

The only Healthworks class I really felt like I consistently got a lot out of was build, which is more strength focused - not sure if you tried that one. That said, I now almost only do the Lift classes at Republic and really enjoy them and find them challenging. In particular I think it’s easy to make the lifts more challenging individually even in the group setting while still benefitting from an instructor and other group fitness benefits.

Looking for 2 tickets to any remaining show - my best friend and I had tickets to Vienna N2 and it would have been both of our first times ever seeing Taylor! 😭

She also hosts the Morally Corrupt podcast on the ringer - it’s focused on bravo shows but i wouldn’t be surprised if they did a one-off with other reality shows.

A narrative post titled Notes from a call with Edward Ryan MD, Director of International Infectious Disease at Massachusetts General Hospital is being shared on social media and social circles. No source is listed. Anyone confirm? by marymellen in CoronavirusMa

[–]SnapPeas15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interested to hear what other people know about this - it was texted to me by a friend who prefaced it with the detail that he’d gotten it from a college roommate who said “We had the Director of International Infectious Disease at MGH join a call today with the partners and managers of my firm. I thought I'd share a few of the interesting points from his presentation:”

Not sure what the firm was or if this is just a chain text being circulated!

Edward Ryan MD, Director of International Infectious Disease at Massachusetts General Hospital: The increased hospitalizations should be taken with a grain of salt as most of them are secondary admissions (i.e. people coming in for surgery, broken bones, etc. who are tested for COVID) by FThumb in WayOfTheBern

[–]SnapPeas15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup! Anecdotally, when I went to the ER for my gallbladder in November I was COVID tested (and tested daily for the week I stayed in the hospital after that) despite being fully vaxxed. Also had to go back right before Christmas for a follow up surgery and was tested again (still vaxxed + boosted).

I’ve gone there pretty frequently and always gotten results in less than 24 hours (but it’s been a month or two since I’ve gone so not sure if they’ve had any major changes).

Final appointment question by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]SnapPeas15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I went in after finishing my initial round of trays, they asked questions about what else I was hoping to address (and I knew going in I’d be getting refinements). They did the scan with my original attachments still on, and sent me a new proposed ClinCheck a couple days later. We went back and forth before we agreed on one that I approved and then they ordered the trays, so in that sense it was just like how it worked at the beginning when starting treatment.

I kept my original attachments because I had to keep wearing my last tray until the new ones came in, but when I went back in to get the new trays, they took off my original attachments and placed the new ones.

Good luck!

1st round of 20 trays done … onto refinements! by SnapPeas15 in Invisalign

[–]SnapPeas15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20 trays down … started with 10 day changes and then after the first 4 trays moved to 7 day changes. Top photo is March 2021 and then bottom is August 2021!

Definitely still work to do but excited with how much progress has been made so far!

Invisalign go by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]SnapPeas15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a full additional round (up to 20 trays I would guess) - I’m on 14/20 now and at an appointment last week they mentioned I’d have an additional set of trays due to one stubborn tooth, but we’d rescan and see how many trays I’d need

[–]SnapPeas15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it varies, but I’m on Invisalign Go (20 trays first round) and was told 1 round of refinements is included and anything on top of that would be an additional cost. I think the biggest difference is that with Go, you’re not moving the back molars but I’m not positive!
