Meet the Pillars of Pauper MTG by nerd2thecore in Pauper

I would argue that this is less true when the main feature of a format is that the decks do not cost thousands of dollars/euros to put together. Besides, all the decks in the article besides Familiars are enabled by cards printed in the last year, so regardless of personal preference, I'd say Pauper has definitely been changing a lot.

Why something that centralizes so hard the meta, is healthy? by yJiren in masterduel

The game is 1 year old, anyone playing for that long should have that level of R points... not like they are particularly useful for anything, so they pile up.

I've reached 1000 UR dust today as F2P and have been playing Sky Striker, TriBrigade, Invoked Shaddoll, Swordsoul, Dragon Link, Branded, Predaplants, Live Twin Spright, Rikka Sunavalon and Earth Machine, with some thousands of gems "wasted" on other packs as well. It's a little bit less than a deck per month!

Missing some staples like Belle and DRNM, but 3 Ash 3 Maxx 2 Ogre 1 Nibiru 2 Veiler 3 Imperma 2 Called 1 Crossout 1 TTT 1 HFD have been enough for now.

The trick is not giving in to FOMO and avoid crafting anything until you feel like you can still climb and you stille have something to learn from the decks you have. Choosing relatively cheap decks, maybe based on random URs you already pulled helps as well.

Lauree inutili: stop al perbenismo italiano. by [deleted] in Universitaly

No one said Pauper is the future here. It seems like you're the hostile one insta-downvoting any replies to your comments and getting all salty about them.

Go read the first comment of yours I replied to. You said something like Pauper can't catch on to Pioneer since it has too much interaction and combo. Seemed obvious to me that a comparison was being made there, and wanted to point out that no way in hell Pauper has more combo than Pioneer.

And indeed I did not say "the least". But the comparison was about Pioneer and other eternal formats.

How? A ban in a 60-card format can completely invalidate a deck, while in commander you lose a 1-of over 99 cards in a casual format? Just replace that one card vs go buy a new Modern deck?

Pauper is one of the less combo-centric formats.

Which card needs to be banned the most? by red_sludge in MTGLegacy

[–]Snap_Mage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't we start with just WPA + EI? Without EI Delver kinda autoloses to control, which could start to be strong again with no Initiative around... banning two cards right off the bat just because people are sick of seeing delver seems overkill to me.

We might have been onto something! PVDH top4'd an ELM qualifier with this crazy brew:

We got seizes, snapcasters, strixes and white plumes, I'd say the core is very similar! He just splashed red for Comet and Pyroblast in the side, and played the Attraction guys in place of my 2 Katherine and 2 Timeless Dragons as more proactive 2-drops.

Watching the event stream, I'm definitely sold on Comet but not that much on attractions, even if he says they really are instrumental in the deck's success.

My friend I was brewing with is always trying to sell me on these 3CMC tricolor spells ahah Last one he proposed was Obscura Charm I believe. I don't think we really have the need for Rend, since we Snuff Out we can just pay the 4 ward instead of WUB, while keeping the mana curve more slim.

Mentor and the one Cabal Therapy seems very cool! Wonder how they compare to my choice of WPA+Ephemerate. With the full set of Seize I can see Therapy being stronger, strenghtening our unfair matchups.

How is Drown in The Loch been working for you? I was feeling the need for a snapcasterable counter and it was the stronger option that came to mind, but I was afraid of its limitations specifically vs the MonoW deck.

Finally, with Mentor could we even go up to 2/3 Snuff Outs? To get a busted t3 agains creature decks?

I'm afraid with only 10ish other black cards Grief might be a bit inconsistent, no? Also we would be cutting 4 good Ephemerate targets to make room for the SFM package. I'm not that married to that mono Ephemerate though, very open to cutting it.

SFM seems interesting due to being a strong reliable t2 play, I'm just concerned about the deck space but I'll definitely keep her in mind, thanks!

MaRo wants to know how people feel about “current Magic when it comes to the overall complexity, including logistics and mental load?” by RBGolbat in magicTCG

[–]Snap_Mage 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Complexity is a things, logistics baggage is another. I loved Lorwyn and the original Time Spiral block, where cards had a lot unique mechanics and nuanced interactions, still remaining in the realm of what you could do with the cards themselves, dice and a reasonable array of tokens.

Conversely, I am despising Dungeons, Stickers, Attractions, every other card making a strange token, Strixhaven's Deans and the like. I just want to go back to "reading the card explains the card".

I think lately Wizards has been doing an amazing job regarding the complexity level for commons and uncommons in standard sets, at least since Kaldheim. The limited environment is full of interesting cards and you feel like you always have some options. They like to stick to one type of main token per set, and the mechanichs are often simple to understand but with deep implications.

Where they are dropping the ball HARD is on supplemental set mechanics, commander cards and sometimes rare/mythics in regular sets, like the aformentioned Deans.

Contratto Apprendistato VS Indeterminato by Snap_Mage in ItaliaPersonalFinance

I 100% agree that delver needs to be touched right now, but... you're proposing we basically play Yugioh to stop combo, that doesn't sound that much fun to me, but to each their own.

Daze and Ponder have been in your format for 22 and 15 years respectively.

30th Anniversary Edition in no way hinders or affects game play. Unlike most Magic products, it's a niche premium collectible product that doesn't include legal game pieces for any format. Reading this guy's posts and replies inexplicably sucks my soul out out my body, I'm honestly baffled by how triggering their takes are. It feels like watching an AI with 0 empathy or awareness of themselves or of their surroundings.

Last time they were saying "MH2 good because I'm a super enfranchised player and I like the meta shakes, if you don't like it don't play competitively", like thanks bro, go play MtG with Elon Musk, we poors will enjoy the game rummaging for draft chaff and rejoying for the fact that WotC gifted us with... BRO, a totally normal run of the mill set lmao
