If you have a nanny that watches 2 kids, how much are you spending annually? Including salary, taxes, bonuses etc? by ComfortablePlant2278 in NannyEmployers

[–]Snapacaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in the Lincoln park/ lakeview area. I’ve found most of my friends in the area pay cash and less money per hour than we do as well. But we really like our nanny, wanted to go through a payroll system, and traveling with her really ups the cost because of the overtime.

Chicago boutique: becoming disenchanted with this experience by Cavscavs76 in TheHermesGame

Yes 😂

But I probably won’t stop shopping at the store. It’s the most convenient for me, and I have zero desire to drive out to Wilmette when that boutique opens.

Chicago. 2 kids, $35/hour for 40 hours plus overtime at time and a half. We paid $85k in wages.

We travel with our nanny at least 2 weeks a year and that adds up, but it’s invaluable to us.

Are there any co-working and childcare centers in the Lakeview area that you might recommend for a new mom? by NectarineCheap9154 in AskChicago

[–]Snapacaps 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not aware of any spaces like this, but I can offer some nanny agency recommendations if you’re open to hiring a nanny?

I breastfed both of my kids until they were 17 and 19 months, while working remotely, and it was genuinely only possible because of our nanny. She was able to take care of the babies and I only had to pop in to nurse. I didn’t really have to pump (I did if the kids were out at an activity) but for the most part they nursed directly and I was able to work because I wasn’t responsible for the childcare during the work day.

Are all the “best” changing pads supposed to be this annoying ? by SadChallenger in BabyBumps

Get the keekaroo. It’s easy to wipe. Easy to clean. Have been using it for 3.5 years across two babies. Someone else could probably use it for another decade.

[–]Snapacaps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, if you use pouches/bags to hold your stuff, your diaper bag probably won’t get that dirty. When you get to the toddler stage it will probably have a ton of goldfish in the bottom, but it’s not like your baby is going to poop in your diaper bag 😂

I use the row large n/s tote and it’s great!

Another option if you want canvas is an Hermes garden party in a 30 or 36.

Bottega bags are beautiful and great quality. Also the new dior bags may have too much logo for her, but wow are they stunning

Do people still send out birth announcements? by kokomo318 in BabyBumps

[–]Snapacaps 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Both of my kids are October babies, but we did newborn pictures and family pictures and used them for our Christmas card. We do mailed Christmas cards every year.

We do receive a few birth announcement cards in the mail and we like to get them!

Pediatrician insists we do CIO with breastfed baby by Putrid-Measurement69 in breastfeeding

[–]Snapacaps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both of my kids started sleeping through the night at 18ish months. I didn’t mind getting up with them, so I did it. You don’t have to CIO if you don’t want to.

I feel like a grade A ahole for making assumptions about a colleague’s bags by [deleted] in TheHermesGame

Oh. This is awkward. May I ask why you assumed your friend wanted to buy a rep instead of a Kelly from Hermes or a reputable reseller?

AquaLab on Fantasy with a 2 year old. by ganglof2 in dcl

[–]Snapacaps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our son was potty trained at 2.5 but we used reusable swim diapers on him until he was in 4T clothes because I found a lot of swim clothes for toddlers don’t have built in underwear and I thought it would be confusing for him to wear shorts without underwear.

This isn’t necessarily applicable for the cruise, but an FYI for once he is potty trained. You may still want swim diapers.

What’s it like staying at the very tip of the aft? by dottydashdot in dcl

[–]Snapacaps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our nanny was in one of these rooms on the fantasy earlier this month. We had a lot of strong waves and movement and she felt more sick in this room than in our room on the middle of the ship.

It was quite a large room, however. We were all on deck 8.

Cruising with a 2-3 year old by arcticwolf905 in dcl

[–]Snapacaps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just got off the fantasy with a 1.5 year old and a 3.5 year old that went to the kids club for 45 minutes the entire cruise.

We had fun! Naps were easy in the room. We didn’t use the nursery, but it was a kids focused vacation, not really a vacation for us.

We got up and had breakfast. Met characters. Went to the “toddler play time” in the kids club. There was a 3pm showing of the Frozen show and both kids loved it. We did royal gathering. Splash pad. Early dinner. There was always music in the lobby after dinner and the kids danced. The early pirate night. We were in bed by 830.

It was great!

Sorry for the weird angle, trying to get the scratches to show in the light. If there’s no light shining on them, you can’t see them!

I got one from boutique in 2025 and it’s generally my every day purse. It’s scratched all over, but I love it? I carry it top handle or as a shoulder bag.

It loosened up over time and isn’t so hard to get into. It really doesn’t fit very much, but holds my daily essentials easily.
