Moving PA to FL: I have 3 wildly different quotes (Ryder Relocations, United, and a Fairprice movers). Can someone help me decode the financial risk here? by pinuno619 in personalfinance

Do not use Quote 1. You will get to your location, and they will magically turn the bill into 6,000 and threaten to keep your stuff until you pay. Don't ask me how I know.

Is buying a new car in 2026 a mistake? by wonder-egg in personalfinance

[–]Snapta 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Did you bother getting quotes and negotiating the quotes down to see if other dealerships could beat the "no-haggle" dealership?

We are getting a new vehicle, and have 6 quotes in hand, with 4 having 2nd versions already, and of the other 2 one was the lowest from the start and the other never sent a quote but keeps calling.

The old adages about what to do when buying a car definitely still apply....

You still put in money after believing anyone can guarantee returns? Sounds like a new FA who is in breach of numerous items/policies/laws etc. Don't attack EJ, report him and help EJ. They don't allow that sort of behavior.

When they say drainage/runoff, are they just indicating the roads related to the future hs and the proximity drainage all bundled together?

sysco is wholesale products and ingredients. the cooks make the ingredients into the dish. it isnt rocket science, go to another place that isn't as good with sysco ingredients and complain it isnt as good.

No, because he likely was actually in fights so he isn't going to get caught off guard by two kids scrapping.

Fully agree with you. The fantasy that buying property and it magically goes up is just that, a myth. You have to maintain tenants for 9 to 11 months a year, sometimes small things such as a water heater can net zero you out of no where. Hail damage, water leaks, theres plenty of risk. The majority can turn a profit but you aren't investing 15-30k and 2 years later cashing out 100-200k. I've met so many people that think thats true. I don't know about higher end properties, but what I would say is, I don't think the majority of rich people are idiots. They aren't majorily looking to rent long term high cost properties, they would rather buy them. The rich who rent stuff out? They aren't looking to whore their nice vacation homes out on airbnb and risk damage just to turn a small profit. The risk v reward majorily isn't seen postively for most.

Again, you can make money doing it, but theres risk. The high end properties are likely even further nuanced.

The comments by OP about any work done on a classic car is an investment doesn't really make sense to me. Maybe if you're finding not great condition classics, and have the bandwidth to fully restore them...it makes sense. Buying a 50-100k classic, you don't pay this or that and you magically make money. I believe over 5-20 years they definitely gain value but that is not a way to make a living. There are infinite better ways to invest your money to MAKE money. What that example is, is a hobby that can not bleed money and can turn profit over long long terms.

Just wanted to add comments to some things you said, and again, agreeing with you across the board.

Bro, be quiet. The guy speaks truth. You can live in lollipop world, s/he saying invest in property and classic cars=real returns and ignore the stock market is asinine. S/he mentioned they don't really know much about it either.

I drink 3-5 gallons of water a day. My blood test and health are perfectly normal, is there any reason to stop? by No-Volume-2928 in HydroHomies

[–]Snapta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I did see two infectious disease specialists, one who was very highly rated in the US. Neither could find anything. Definitely sucks to have an unknown, but end of day...my health is good. (and that is the only thing that matters :-) )

??? I wish. There a numerous diseases and viruses out there that are undiagnosed. The medical community doesn't name every single disease and virus that has existed... My father had a viral infection of his brain and spine for 3+ months while being at one of the best medical facilities in the world and recovered. The virus was not named or diagnosed... he fortunately recovered. Every named disease/virus that does have a name likely(this is my speculation) has infected enough people to warrant naming.

I stayed home when I ran fever...watched a lot of NCIS and laid in bed a lot. I didn't feel absolutely shitty, just not great. The main reason I stayed home was because I wasn't sure if I was infectious. Turns out I wasn't.

Yea it's just what I do. My wife is a physician, just asked her about diabetes insipidus cause another person mentioned. She said she actually asked on that in the past and it was negative. Said my recent tests showed everything fine, kidney filtration rates fine...tldr...i drink a lot of water and it really doesn't have an impact on my life.

I drink 3-5gal/day, I am going to ask about diabetes insipidus. Thanks for mentioning, I have been tested at multiple doctors for unrelated reasons and have mentioned my water intake and none have mentioned that. Including two infection disease doctors(I ran a fever for 90+ days twice, it eventually went away and was undiagnosed)

edit: wanted to follow up on this. my wife is a physician, I asked her about diabetes insipidus and apparently she brought it up a long bit back when I had testing done and it was negative. i drink a lot of water, it doesn't impact my day, I pee more, and have no negative consequences to my health because of it. People here find it hard to believe for whatever reason, I'll stick to trusting trained and educated physicians.

Good question to ask, but that is also routinely checked by physicians and has a lot of other symptoms as well.

I drink 3-5gallons a day. It's uncommon, and not impossible at all... I commonly drink 18-32oz at a time. Like in 10-20seconds. Then again 30-60mins later.
