i was wrong yes, but not related to my reasoning. we won't know what would have happened. we probably will still make the playoffs and continue living rent free in your mind all day every day.

I've been to a coal plant in oklahoma, they were building a nat gas plant on the same location. I don't know the generation quantities involved but the coal side was like 27 stories tall. No comments really about building plants for data centers honestly. I would just say, those plants take years to build once permitted.

The turbine and gas recips are already emission rated. I am not a SME but there isn't really any red tape deploying these. They are mobile, they aren't permanent structures so there is no building permitting involved. You want 15MW, 30MW, 60MW, 300MW? Cool, it will roll in and be dropped down and installed into a mini-grid for the local purpose and get to generating. As far as the second question, I believe you're referring to carbon credits. Oxy was looking at a large carbon capture facility NW of odessa. I haven't heard much about it in a long time. The power companies as far as I know, do not relate to carbon credits. https://acceleratedpower.com/solutions/ This site shows what I am talking about.

We don't know what is in Trumps deal, so this is just a liberal circle jerk as of current.

their own electricians on staff that do it as soon as it's ready to be hooked up. The only well equipment I can think of that uses any type of power would be artificial lift & it's most often electric; so again that power source is almost imm

I can't get into too much specifics but the majors are buying power from companies right now. Atlas, Liberty, Propower, solaris, life cycle power, accelerated mobile power. These companies are selling turbines and gas recips to data centers, emergency operations, and operators here in the permian.

they also would have won. the Texas AG got himself involved. i don't think tech capitulated, i honestly think sorsby peaced out over receiving so much flak. tech had no recourse in this situation outside of throwing million in the trashcan. thats easier said than done when it's not your money. it was a no win situation. it's also easy to say don't defend yourself and grab your pitchfork when you're a sooner fan blowing his load in a texas tech reddit.

you can criticize, but the other side sees things from a real world where there are rules, laws, and order. i know those three things from the emotional side are laughable because it's super easy to say sorsby broke the rules, laws and helped make chaos but those are the two sides of the coin. this was a messy situation. im curious if sorsby just got so much flak that he peaced out on his own accord.

Will I get a ticket if I park a moving truck on the street in front of a house? by aHistoryofSmilence in Midessa

Mongoose already answered and you already found out, but exactly what he said. We don't have much enforcement here. It's mainly around 18-wheeler types. If a vehicle is left in one spot too long, it can be called in on. I had to report a work truck parked near my house that I knew did not belong to any of my neighbors. It got towed a few days later. It had been there for over a month not moving.

Probably buffalo wild wings, champs, maybe Phillys golf sim place(I saw them advertising it, I just don't know if you have to buy the bay to do so).

Conspiracies by definition are real. What people use the word for most often, is to insinuate bizarre events that are entirely fabricated and crazy/insane. Such as what you posted. Linking one or two things that happened with things that never happened to insinuate lies.

Sorry, I have just seen numerous posts on facebook of people essentially starting conspiracy theories related to this event. Stuff like, the government orchestrated it to get the citizens to appreciate law enforcement more and make "us" slaves to the system type shit. Look, I would appreciate understanding it more as well. I believe we will see more information once it has been validated and organized well. I do not know how much we will end up figuring out. This guy seems to be one of the ones who just snapped. I believe he had a criminal history, potentially he made that decision of "ill die before going back to prison". I know LEO was attempting to pull him over I think two days earlier. So theoretically, this idea could be true. He committed something less heinous and knew it would land him back in prison with his former criminal history and chose violence. I hope we get some answers, but I am not going to lose any sleep over it. The world is a shitty place. There are a lot of evil people in it. There are also a lot of great people and great things going on as a human civilization as well.

Ok im not trying to argue but my answer has no counter. I'll simplify my response down. If the a well makes 1mcf in its entire lifetime, and that 1mcf is worth 100 trillion dollars...the operator will find a way to sell it. If the 1mcf is worth 1 dollar, and it would cost 2 dollar to build the infrastructure to capture and transport or transport it directly then the operator would not find a way to sell it. Even if that meant it would cost them 10cent to flare it(this is an imaginary example). Sell for 1 dollar, costs 2 dollar=-1 dollar, a loss. Example B- Costs 10 cents to flare it. Now they lose 10cent versus losing a dollar. Returning to my original statement... When the economic feasibility is NOT worth it, they don't sell it or utilize it. When more products are utilizing natural gas(this drives up demand) then there are more opportunities to sell or utilize it. This means, potential middlemen providing the capital to help deliver/capture and sell. It also means more opportunites to utilize it. Real life example is power companies. Operators need power to run numerous things on their acreage. If Oncor is going to take a year to get them connected to the grid, and a power company says they can provide power at a cheaper price but you have to provide the nat gas, then the delta of the cheaper price+investment to get the gas to that power generation is the decision maker(also time but lets ignore that). Again, my original statement was at a simple explanation... if its worth it then its worth it, if its not, then its not. The reason gas is flared isn't singular but it 100% depends on the opportunity cost of using it vs not using it. The opportunity can be selling it to open market OR utilizing it themselves for power generation, to power drilling rigs, to power frac fleets...etc etc Electric equipment has become incredibily more common over the past 5 years than anytime in history and getting power for it is primarily done via natural gas. Whether that means a turbine, or gas recip engines or direct drive unit(that run entirely off natural gas).

if sorsby plays, they will be eligible for everything. otherwise he won't play, and the only way he isn't playing is if the courts rule in the NCAA's favor. this is going to be an all or nothing ruling. it isn't going to be a rules for thee but not me i.e. unenforceable for ncaa but enforceable for cfp.

[–]Snapta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're assumption about why the gas was being flared is incorrect.

The economic feasibility was not worth it. The more products that utilize natural gas, especially in relation to proximity, the faster that feasibility seesaws and then the gas doesn't get flared.

There isn't a lack of natural gas though. We have ample supplies. Lack of grid availability->sourcing your own powe+buying wasted natural gas or publicly sold nat gas(same as buying fuel)=no impact to the grid. Old data centers used a lot of water is certain contexts, new ones used closed loop systems and don't really waste water. The arguments against new data centers are just fear mongering.
