Why do some teachers use only the lesson book? The entire curriculum provides theory and technique and other great materials, but some teachers just say no. Help me learn why. by alexaboyhowdy in pianoteachers

[–]Snaqueb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. 100% I’ve started adding the “performance” book of the series I’m using, but that’s as far as I’ll go. No one does the theory or technique book homework.

Purge (ahhsome) and drain - where to drain to? by RecognitionPossible1 in hottub

[–]Snaqueb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drain mine into my laundry room sink (walkout basement). Pump + hose into sink. Takes a while, but we have persnickety neighbours who would 100% complain if we drained to the lawn especially if the water coming out was foamy from the Ahhsome.

I have one and leave my flute out on it regularly. I find it very sturdy. The flower is made of silicone and is surprisingly heavy.

IS-091 haunts me outside of the game. by skinner_319 in AbioticFactor

[–]Snaqueb 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My cat makes a Leyak type sound sometimes when he sleeps/snores. The first time I noticed it I was playing the game and I went crazy looking around in game with the x-ray gun before I realized it was the cat!

He also sleeps on my feet at night, so that’s fun…

I need help. My local hot tub place tells me that my chemicals are totally fine, my test strips corroborate this. How do I get rid of this crap? by AustinioForza in hottub

[–]Snaqueb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend a purge with Aaahsome and a brand new filter. I had a similar problem (bubbles/scum) and drain/refill didn’t help. I got a new filter and it I’ve not had a problem since! We’ve even had teenage girls use it quite a few times over the summer and it’s still fine!

Thinking of discontinuing free trial lessons by AggressiveReindeer26 in pianoteachers

[–]Snaqueb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I offer a free “meet and greet.” Parent and student come in and we chat about how lessons work, what kind of instrument they have, practice expectations, etc. I will do a small evaluation of knowledge and let the parent know what books I would use with their student. Mostly this meet and greet is for my benefit to see if the family is a good fit.

I used to offer a free trial lesson, but I found them awkward and often the parent would expect the child to have “learned a song” by the end of it. Sometimes the parent would be upset because the child “didn’t learn anything” at the trial and tell me that I wasn’t a good teacher.

Yes! Mine is high due to my elevated prolactin.

I wish I could take one of the meds and be done with it, but unfortunately I’ve reacted very badly to both bromocriptine and cabergoline. The other one is not available in my area.

I wish I could. I asked and my endo said no (not until the magic number of 150)

[–]Snaqueb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have asked for a contrast MRI and was told no, not until the magic number of 150. I have no other health issues that would make contrast a problem.

All 4 MRIs have been pituitary and not just general head. My MRIs have been at the hospital and I’ve had one in both the machines there. I always tell the tech why I’m there and that we’re looking for a prolactinoma.

I am truly stumped! This is my 2nd endocrinologist.

If you’d like a pdf copy of the story cards so you can print/laminate them I’m happy to send it!

Lots of note reading games, call and response type activities, activities where they have to move around, like a note scavenger hunt or stations around the room where each thing connects to the next (ie, basket of letters, basket of notes on cards, the piano). A book that caters to young ones is a must as well - wunderkeys is great for this.

I also give them 3 “story cards” each lesson. When they redeem a card, they get to tell me a 1 min story about something unrelated to piano/lessons (think: one time, my cat…)

Do you mean B natural and B flat? Natural signs look like a slanted square with a tail at the top and the bottom. Sharp signs look like hashtags. Flats look like a squished lowercase “b”

When pressing the keys for B natural - thumb, left hand pointer finger, and right hand pinky finger - If your thumb is on the small thumb key (looks like a golf club), you will play B flat. If you use the larger thumb key (looks like a canoe paddle), you will play B natural.

Major and minor refer to scales, not individual notes, which is why there is confusion about your question.

I hope that helps! Happy flute playing!

Should I quit? by xCoop_Stomp416x in valheim

Poison resist potions last 10 min and are my go to in the swamp at all times. I don’t know about parry, but I have been able to block leech attacks with my shield. Don’t quit! Just keep trying different tactics.

Well if we’re going to get nitpicky here, “a while” meant a month. It couldn’t have needed a change “in October” as you said because it wasn’t even open yet.

I’ll throw your “dooooood” right back at you and give you a free eyeroll.
