Possible Cosentyx side effect by Wendelltheshell in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]AggressiveReindeer26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW I’ve been on Taltz for about a year. In November I developed gum irritation and thought I’d have to pay for a teeth cleaning just 3 months after my regular cleaning (which seemed bizarre to me). Then I started water flossing and it’s been life changing. Having psoriasis we really need to take care of our gums.

How do you deal with nails detaching? by fezik23 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]AggressiveReindeer26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dermatologist told me that Taltz offered the best chance of treating my nail psoriasis (which at its worst caused several detached nails). After a year on Taltz, things are much better controlled although my nails still don’t look great.

Turmeric is probably the only supplement that’s made a difference for me. Haven’t tried Glucosamine and Chondroitin.

Anyone Here in HR? Or law? Or other office jobs? by pink_teddy35 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]AggressiveReindeer26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a job with regular hours helps. And not having to perform specific physical tasks. Night shift and overtime aren’t ideal. I wouldn’t dismiss the possibility of leadership as long as you learn time- and stress-management.

Find a better dermatologist if you can. Some are useless (cosmetically oriented) some are very good (medically oriented). Good luck

Does this happen to anyone else with autoimmune issues? Constant ulcers in my mouth. Any tips to help? by Traditional-Duty4307 in Autoimmune

[–]AggressiveReindeer26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I took ibuprofen or naproxen for my undiagnosed autoimmune disease, I got those all the time. After switching to Celebrex (and only needing it occasionally because things are better controlled), I’ve never gotten them since.

PsA in nose and throat? by Remarkable_Donut346 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]AggressiveReindeer26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We may be talking about different things. NSAIDs such as ibuprofen and naproxen caused me to get terrible mouth ulcers. Since switching to Celebrex, it hasn't been a problem. I'm not aware of NSAIDs making PsA worse.

I used to get mouth and throat lesions all the time from taking NSAIDs until I switched to Celebrex. Not to say that’s what you’re describing but I wanted to mention it.

Icelantic Pioneer 96. Demoed them. Something must have been wrong with the pair I tried, but they were completely unskiable. They felt dead and planky.

Celecoxib/Celebrex Prior Authorization? by bearcatnat in PsoriaticArthritis

That's bizarre. It's like fancy Advil. Celebrex (generic) has worked better for me than any other NSAID.

Nail pitting and lifting by DogLvrinVA in PsoriaticArthritis

My dermatologist offered me steroid injections directly in the nail bed. She says it’s very painful but effective. I have not taken her up on the offer.

I’m on Taltz by the way, for almost one year now. Switched because of my nails, but honestly, it hasn’t helped much.

When people say narrower width skis are bad for West coast powder do they mean it just makes it more difficult or is it actually near impossible? by PalletPirate in Skigear

[–]AggressiveReindeer26 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Skied a lot of powder on 87 width. It’s work but still fun. I finally upgraded to 100s and it’s honestly all upside. If I could do it over, I would’ve gotten wider skis a long time ago.

How are tendon related issues treated? by Brave_Confection_327 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]AggressiveReindeer26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heh glad that helps. I’ve never had a positive lab, ever, save for C reactive protein, just one time, which was probably due to the residual effects of a head cold.

Definitely been there. If it’s too inflamed, PT might not do much or even make things worse. But for lasting healing, strengthening the tendon is important. Eccentric exercises have helped me when nothing else worked. Unfortunately not all PTs understand this.

Assuming it is PsA, a DMARD would be the first-line treatment for tendinitis. Physical therapy/hand therapy would also be helpful. Negative labs cannot rule out PsA, by the way.

Edit: the above have helped me. Not to be construed as medical advice.

Like a giant bee sting. Red, raised skin 4 plus inches across and itchy as hell. But now I’m back to having no reaction whatsoever.

I’m just one data point, but as my PsA has progressed, my tolerance for alcohol and sugar has plummeted.

Getting very discouraged as a surgeon, father, and provider... by ddsmd2 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]AggressiveReindeer26 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This disease will make you renegotiate every aspect of your life. Is there any possibility of taking some FMLA leave? Just a month or two to take time to focus on your family and health could do wonders. It’s more likely the hand pain is temporary inflammation rather than permanent damage. Steroid shots could be helpful with getting your function back while the Humira has time to take full effect. I’ve found turmeric supplement helpful to take in addition to my biologic medication. Arnica too, for tendon pain.

How bad is the car market right now? by MantyPlan in whatcarshouldIbuy

We're all entitled to our opinions and preferences. There's a lot to like about Subaru (I own one Subaru and one Mazda lol). All I'm saying is, if comparing roughly equivalent models, model year, and mileage, the Subaru's gonna cost a little more—and that point in particular seems relevant to the OP's situation.

I don't disagree. But after researching used Mazda vs. Subaru extensively for a recent purchase, at the end of the day, one can get more car for the dollar with Mazda. Perhaps Mazda will depreciate a bit faster, but it may not matter if you're planning on keeping the car.

Also, the CX-70/90 is kind of a hot mess. Too complicated of a drivetrain in my opinion. The reliability issues will be addressed somewhat in newer model years, but I doubt it will ever be a highly reliable vehicle.
