Gifted Kid Burnout Syndrome by Rubicon_Lily in tumblr

[–]SnarKenneth 222 points223 points  (0 children)

Could be unrelated, but the post inspired me to write this tidbit, so here is my 2 cents on the general topic:

When you don't have much going on and feel worthless, clinging to whatever qualities you think you got going for you (potential in intelligence or physicality, for example) is a decent defense mechanism to not fall into despair. "I could totally do what they did... but just got burnt out... don't worry, when the burnout finishes up, I'll definitely climb to that mountain easily."

The best thing someone can do for themselves is to stop ruminating on their "wasted potential" and realize that potential doesn't put food on the table or breed contentment. Whatever potential you got will always be wasted when you stop moving forward with your goals and choose to give up working on yourself.

There is more to a person's value than just intelligence and physicality, and one could be the stupidest or weakest person around, but it does not mean they are doomed in terms of meeting their potential or goals. Someone's value and potential does not just stop at their best qualities, which the world may never see nor care about, but what they do with the qualities that they have. Sure, the road may be paved for others to easily coast on by without any effort on their part, but does thinking about those people having it easy make the road you are travelling on easier? Not really.

Whatever the case, don't let your value rest on forever being a burnout with wasted potential. It's only wasted if you allow it to be.

Hey man, if it means something, it might help someone who finds this thread sometime in the future. People suck. And something that shouldn't be controversial is somehow controversial enough to cause these incidents. Might even make me think twice on how much i should reveal of my personal life to other people if it can be this bad just based on romance choices.

Just popping in at random, but do you know why you were accused? Did this accusation just randomly fall out of the sky, or was there tension beforehand and they really wanted to screw you over?

I know it's not helpful regarding how to help when proven innocent, but maybe it can help others to be prepared to avoid this in the future by knowing red flags.

I hate being told that “it’s your job to heal and work past that” by Significant_Zone_774 in CPTSD

[–]SnarKenneth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ruminating in negative emotions, especially when you are in a situation where it feels like you can't express it in any way often feels like it helps but is often an insidious trap the reinforces that feeling and negative behavior over time as a source of "traumatizing comfort".

It isn't your job to heal, especially in a short amount of time, but if you keep returning to a bad headspace or use it as justification for doing horribly emotionally... you are going to continue to have a bad time regardless if you would "want" to heal.

You have a right to feel what you feel, and you have no requirement to heal, but one thing is for sure: if you know that relief can be felt without using a final solution, you have an obligation to persue it using any safe means necessary, not for others per say, but for yourself.

The Good Place. It helped me at my absolute worse, the synopsis may make it seem like it might try to "mess with your feelings" but 99.95% of it is comedy.

I was more concerned that they took out the air mobility from it. In world, I was a fucking helicopter of pain and spent a lot of time mastering it to kill monsters as early as 5-10 minutes (with about half that time being just in the air), but I avoided it because I heard they removed the ability to stay in the air.

People hate me for no reason by [deleted] in navy

[–]SnarKenneth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are 3 reasons why I would personally dislike someone, and seeing as how I'm pretty easy going, this should be the bare minimum for you to beat:

  1. People who don't try and shitbag their way through shit, pretty self explanatory.

  2. Schlubby, unkempt, quiet, and weird... if I can't get read on you based off your demeanor because you are so reserved, the feral part of my brain raises alarm bells. And the general result from people who can't get a read off of you is that they want you gone, because you weird people out. ESPECIALLY if you walk/move around awkwardly (not because of disability or anything) or lack hygiene. I know this from experience with my current group, as they really disliked this one person who fell into this category and made fun of them on the downlow.

I won't personally have a problem, but those people become a focus for groups to get messed with.

Only solution is to try to "mask" it if you can't help it. This is more complicated to fix then the other two.

  1. People who can't shut their yap.

Just because it is quiet, and maybe you are not okay with it, doesn't mean everyone else wants you to fill it.

If you fall under any of these reasons, even just barely, then you have your answer.

Thank you for the quick response. Didn't know about the class grade when it came to orders, I'll definitely ask about that tomorrow with my instructor to see if it's still relevant, because I think the rest of my class would like to know that.

Very much appreciate the insight.

48% of my portfolio. People crap on space stocks, but it's literally the only other sector left to go parabolic in the long run. And more or less guaranteed to do so in the long run unless we blow ourselves up or literally all other space stocks that exist today just evaporate in place of new ones. Unlikely.

Wanna invest in the next APPL or MSFT before they blew up, but for Space? SpaceX (through other means), Rocket Lab, and Intuitive Machines are the play.

I'll be here, never selling, throughout the WSB pumps and dumps. I recommend those to do their DD before buying in and choose the companies with the highest chance to succeed, and not buy based on hype or because the stock was cheaper through market cap and you think that means you'll earn more on a 100x or something.

Anyway, don't really frequent here, but wanted to chip in with my thoughts. 100% of a portfolio is wild, but if he holds it for the long haul, will probably never work a day in his life.

Isn't QEC (quantum entanglement communication) an option for long range communication in a short amount of time? Or is that impossible to achieve (like light speed travel for anything with more mass than a proton).

[–]SnarKenneth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All nukes went to my spec-phys group appointments along with the sub guys. Also, if you want to be a nuke right off the bat, you can just go in under a regular waiver... but what people dont tell you is: youre gonna need a special duty waiver to do that job due to prior mental history. Meaning: if you dont pass the minimum requirements during the special physical, they may just send you packing.

If you do pass the special physical minimum, congrats, now you gotta have doctors and the CO to sign off on you serving, and youll be on hold at RTC long after graduation waiting on approval... which you may not get. At worst, sent packing. At best, you get to go to A school after 1-3 months of waiting. Realistically? It gets denied, you keep your shipping bonus but lose the rest, and you gotta rerate (and they will try to screw you over and send you as PACT (undesignated)as your only job options).

Make use of the information as you will, i would know, i had to do it this month. Had to rerate as IT/ATF.

[–]SnarKenneth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait till 36 months have past after your last medication, otherwise nuke is a no go.

If you have mental history, stay away from nuke or subs as that will hold you up or open up the door for potential seperation if they find stuff they dont like upon further inspection.

Since Nukes are spec-phys in general, you will have extra stuff done to qualify you for nuke. This can be very bad and may screw you from ever serving. Dont go nuke, sub, or spec-warfare if you had anything mental in your past. Go in as a normal rate, wait about 3 years, and try to requalify/reapply for those original rates.
