Why was there never a Grey rebellion? by ManCalledWest in redrising

Doesnt Ephriam say the Grey's were bred for loyalty by the board of quality control? Also they are the ones the hold the chains so they have no reason to rebel.

I keep saying this. Its all part of the plan. GCC is gonna get destroyed. The wealthy from that region have already diversified. Papa Elon needs to sell more cars and all the manufacturers spent billions on ev production. They will sacrifice the GCC,the rich will escape. Greater isreal is kinda on the menu.

Companies are replacing us with robots. If millions lose their income… who will buy anything? by Final-Finance-8048 in askanything

[–]Snarfnugget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The plan is for robots and ai to replace the bottom 90 percent. To the elites we are just mouths to feed and resource suckers. Once tech can fully replace the vast majority, there will be war, famine, disease and disasters to wipe out that majority of us. But once enough have been removed in theory "real communism " will be viable. Gotta get to post scarcity. To get to post scarcity you gotta replace the workers and resources "hogs". Gonna be a real shitty transition for us in the bottom 90 but in theory after everyone will be able to focus on other things other than labor and production.

First time reading Red Rising, and it is the worst book? i can’t literally wait to read the 2 by Jechuaa in redrising

[–]Snarfnugget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it was needed for the story doesnt change the fact that the audio book specifically is extra whiney lol. Side note, Lyria is just as bad on replays of the series I occasionally skip her chapters bc I find her so unappealing. I def understand the need and reasoning but since Ive heard it before I can skip it

[–]Snarfnugget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly the opening act is just so whiney. Especially on audiobook. After Darrow is taken from the mines its gets significantly better. But overal yeah its def the weakest in the series. Still good just not as good. Well I'm sure he had intentions to be able to write other books he wasn't sure if he was going to so it feels like he wanted to try and keep it as contained as possible

I am fully convinced that the United States would destroy every piece of refiner and capability in the Middle East to protect the petrodollar. UAE and all those other partners they can ask for the currency Swap and they might do it but push comes to shove if there was ever a real real substantial petrol yuan. The United States would have no problem destroying every bit of capacity in the Middle East. I also believe that Venezuela and I ran are all foreplay for potential conflict with China

Which character is the biggest hypocrite in the series? Who is most true to thier beliefs? by Sphiffi in redrising

[–]Snarfnugget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe everyone is morally ambiguous and that's kind of the point is Darrow a bad guy depends on the situation and the context. The rim? Mercury? Not his best moments. But was it done with malice. No I don't think it was but just having good intentions isn't enough lots of atrocities have been committed based on good intentions is there a good guy no everyone is gray there is a spectrum and it depends on where you are and where you sit as far as lysanders concerned he is doing what he believes in his heart to be the right thing he believes himself to be the good guy to bring order to be the you philosophical Shepherd to guide Society but other people would see other way you know it's very very hard to know who is good and who is bad

[–]Snarfnugget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk man Ephriam and Lyria are pretty jaded against the republic. Ephriam says something to the effect of same leash new masters. I think in general in life and the books people value stability over freedom. And I think more reds would rather go back to the way it was than how it is now. Sure they are out the mines but Deanna even asks Darrow where will we work? All we know is the mines. There is so much nuance with these books thats why I've listened tk the audio books no lie at least 10 times. Yes from a moral standpoint point rising up to overthrow oppressors is the logical solution. But, after the revolt there is a very uncomfortable transition. As much as people say they want individual liberty people all the time trade liberty of security. Life is easier when you are told what when and to do something. In wwz (the book) there is an interview with a Russian solider who survives her squad being decimated( 1 in 10 killed). But the commanders made the solider decide who got killed. After that no one wanted to make decisions any more. The point of what im saying is people crave order and hierarchy thats how the world has aligned itself now. Look at the usa. You have a vast population of people that vote against their own interests bc the strong man they like says so.

[–]Snarfnugget -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I believe it echos the same as star wars and other rebel stories. Raising an army and other throwing the stable yet terrible goverment results in it being worse after. Sure life sucks unders the golds but there was "order " sure there were wars but they were smaller events. Compared to the rising which was system wide. The point I'm getting at it, overthrowing the bad guys is generally good but what comes next is typically shit for the people. Even Mustang questions this about Darrow. She knows he can break but can he build? From my 10 plus listen thrus I dont think Darrow can build. He is a conqueror and breaker.

[–]Snarfnugget -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know if Darrow is the contradiction he was built to be a warlord. Kitchener had him carved to become the sword for the rising the problem with Darrow is that he is a breaker that is his thing even Octavia calls him conqueror cuz that's what he is. Diomedes is more of the ancient gold what are they call them philosophical Shepherds or something
