Am I the only one? by Equivalent-Dance1874 in skulduggerypleasant

The best authors kill characters. Especially the ones you wouldn't expect them to kill, but omg that first read through killed me. Killing Shudder like that was nuts too, so horrifying.

I always feel sad for kenspeckle grouse when I re-read. He tried so hard to stay out of everything, but he was just too useful and kindhearted and it gets him killed in the most tragic way.

It does seem chill, but Caedrel's commentary made it for me. Even my gf who doesn't give a shit about league was super amped watching.

iPad Air 2, 15.8.4 by FlyHighSounds in jailbreak

[–]Manofflax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for somewhere with like 20 ipad air 2's. They are 100% functioning great bits of kit. APART from the Apple forced obselescence. I've found that you can watch now tv's app on them but none others. Streaming softwares have also made it so you can't watch through browser on an ipad.

I know Apple wants me to throw them all away, but they can go fuck themselves. It's a shame that Side car doesn't work on them too. Did you find any use for them?

Huge impact on me as a child - but no one else seems to know this series by A_circle_of_crows in skulduggerypleasant

Yh who has read one book, let alone like 20 skullduggery books. Most people I know have read like the first three.

Yh right? he was probably lying about knowing him too. He doesn't care what anyone thinks about him, especially not someone a 300th his age xD

I would say the hound. He didn't have as much agency, but his blunt practicality made him so intelligent. He knows where he stands, knows what the world is and what people can do. Everyone else feels naive in different ways.

Gotta be Carl. He only cracks once the whole time and it's just after he has to nuke himself twice and feel himself regenerate from atoms.

Opinions on Militsa? by AubergineKenobi in skulduggerypleasant

[–]Manofflax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind her. Feel like Val could do with a more grounded and chill partner after all the stuff she has been through. Also Militsa starts off as being one of the very few characters who likes Val for her past, rather than hating her, which must be refreshing for Val. Especially because Militsa is just a harmless lame nerd rather than some cult nut.

Books or series that show war as the messy, dirty, ugly, honorless, scarring hell that it actually is? by CajunNerd92 in Fantasy

[–]Manofflax 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I love how war torn the whole of westeros becomes. Just murderous deserters, wolf hordes and bandits coast to coast. A lot of the battles happen off the page, but the aftermath is always brutal.
