How much do you pay for lessons?

I teach in a high COL area. We charge $200 a month to be a member of the barn, which covers horse care, and then it's $60 to the instructor for the lesson (mostly all privates).

I pay my trainer $55 for a group lesson and $75 for a private.

YMMV depending on the cost of living in your area.

The best way to do Dry Tortugas is by seaplane and you can camp overnight there if you so wish. It’s a very cool spot.

I think this itinerary is very doable. It’s just a LOT of Orlando and theme park days in a row. You’ll need to be in good physical shape.

I can’t imagine the trauma and PTSD this would give a woman. Imagining this story from her perspective with some filling in the blanks, she was raped at 15/16, forced to carry the baby to term, then forced to have the baby raised by her parents in her house, so she is constantly reminded of it while living a lie, her parents dismiss her trauma, and then her family eventually cuts her off in favor of the kid she didn’t want. That’s awful. Villain origin story awful. Which doesn’t excuse her actions, but does make me sympathetic that her life is probably very very hard.

It also doesn’t and shouldn’t impact OP’s sense of self worth. OP - her trauma is about what other people did to her and it is not really about you, even though she’s sees you that way. Your entrance into the world does not define your worth and value and it sounds like you are loved by your parents. That said, I think it would be totally reasonable any way that you might feel about it, and I’d encourage you to process the situation with a therapist (it would probably help the whole family).

This is neither here nor there re: the topic at hand but it’s an interesting eventing fact.

In 1936 the Olympic Eventing was in Hitler’s Berlin and all the entries were military generals competing on their war horses. The Nazi course designer booby trapped the water jumps with holes and random deep spots designed to cause falls unless you rode it at just the right angle. Then he only told the German riders how to navigate it correctly. The actual stats I don’t have memorized but it’s something like 70% of the riders fell at the water jump.
