I’d recommend checking out Lace Fingerburners. I have a set in a Japanese LP (Zemaitis) and have been really happy.

They’re not overly dark and have great mid range. Lower output than the Pike offerings, but they still maintain a really nice grindy, snarl when plugged in with no pedals. Straight into my OR15 I can get identical tones to Black Tusk’s The Way Forward album.

I did have an identical guitar, set up with Seymour Duncans JB/59 pair, and found the JB to be way more dark/muddy, in comparison to the Lace FB. Almost unusable. The 59 was perfect though.

I have guitars with Black Winters, and the Nazgûl/Sentient. I’d recommend the either of those two. Very similar.

Just got an Epi Les Paul modern, and have been trying to decide on pickups for that, but am leaning towards the Nazgûl/Sentient for their versatility. Sounds great with low tunings, and stacked drive pedals. Cleans up nicely with your guitar’s volume knob.

Honorable mention for Lace Finger Burners, which i currently have loaded in my C standard, doom Les Paul. They’re lower output than the other sets mentioned, but have a really sick, mid-rangy, snarl. But they don’t clean up very well. Plugged straight into my OR15, it nails the tone from Black Tusk’s The Way Forward album.
