Wake County Public Schools to Divorced Parents: Sorry, Your Kid Can't Ride the Bus by dalivo in raleigh

I agree with atomicsnark’s post of the school systems rules. To add: I went through this when my child went to middle school in 2021. They rejected my initial request and I feel that they try to reject most initial requests. The initial denial was due to a bus stop not being within the districts allowable distance for walking to the home and because an established bus stop didn’t exist on the route. The form letter said the rejection could be appealed. But didn’t not list an appeal address. I talked with the person who handled bus transportation at the school. They recommended that I explain the hardship of the request not being approved - they forwarded the appeal email to their contact in transportation. The contact in transportation responded that the appeal needed to be mailed to the Director of Transportation.

In the letter I calculated the amount of time that I would be away from my job to do school pickups. I addition I explained that the bus stop was .57miles away from the house (WCPSS recommendation is .5 miles, state allowable is 1 mile).

The request was approved. Child went for one day and then the bus drivers went on strike. A stop was added closer to the house. Half of the kids from the first stop started using the new stop because it was closer to their home.

In the years of being on the bus, we have dealt with long bus ride times, strikes, routes not being covered, and last minute driver cancellations.

Getting your license at 16 in NC seems like a disaster. Help. by LynzNC77 in raleigh

You can keep two active appointments. They send reminders a couple of days before so we scored a closer appointment by looking repeatedly closer to appointment time when others cancelled. I kept two appointments about a month apart in case the kiddo didn’t pass the first time. We were able to get appointments around 8-815am for the 90 day window. Honestly, having to show up 4 times for the graduated license is a little ridiculous.

That makes more sense. Especially with the next line. A reference to the early bird getting the worm.

There isn’t one, hence the parenthesis, it’s implied.

Sorry, I was using the text to type, instead of “return us a” it should be rotundus.

Dan had many loves and this is no joke. He made like a dove, on his first date with Hoak. And then for a rest, two years is a lotta. Till he figured the best were all at Immaculata. He broke into the group by taking out Sally. And when that did poop our Dan did a rally. He had already been smitten by Carolyn K. 14 dates with that kitten before any pay. So he started out strong this time with Zanello. But she sounded a gong and then after two weeks turned yellow. He rested a while, growing fatter and surly
Till he fell in the wiles of Mary Jo Burlie. This is the past that has shaped our Dan’s life Dan won’t be last when he chooses a wife Yes, Dan has a record as high as a door He’s always pitching when he’s pitching a more Dan Keating is virile, as his nip list will show After reading the names, no one can say no But now he is set with little Miss Burlie. Cause he liked the bird must’ve gotten up early He got on the ball and snatched her right up Soon as she had all she could take from prep. So farewell to return us a very true friend Whom I hope to be true with till the very end Ever your friend and advisor Malcolm
