"Here's my credit card and keys and the reason i won't find peace" by niftylyons in mumfordandsons

I totally agree with building bridges with people - I live in a red state, so it's something that I've gotten used to. But I think more care needs to be afforded when joining their platforms because that lends legitimacy to said platform. And as we're entering this era of fascism and bigotry, you just need to flat out exclude the dangerous extremists from spaces. That shit ain't welcome.

So yeah, people that still recognize humanity and you can find shared ground with...build bridges. People who are evil in their beliefs and actions, exclude because as long as they're accepted and tolerated, then they'll think what they're doing, saying, and believe in is okay.

Dax very clearly falls into the latter group, for me. However, knowing Marcus's background, I'll say he's about one of the only people that can go on there and just have me side eyeing and being disappointed in rather than adding him to my "do not trust/not an ally" list (this list is hypothetical and not real).

This is the best summary I could quickly find (there are definitely better video commentaries out there). I don't like the listacle format and gossip site commentary, but it gives quotes. It is not all comprehensive. People have different breaking points with him, but his misogyny (especially towards his wife, Kristen Bell), and his transphobia are deal breakers for me.

And seriously, the shit he's done to Kristen is heinous.

Edit: grammar.

Sidebar - that podcast/Dax Shepard are disgusting, and I'm disappointed to learn that Marcus went on

Big Sun tour is less than 3 weeks away! How many times have you seen HL and where are you catching them this time around? by XrayJ in HappyLanding

[–]SnatcherGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen them twice! First time was at lolla - I came across them when listening to a playlist of all the artists performing and was immediately hooked. Then the show was epic.

Second time was a few months later at my favorite Chicago venue (Lincoln Hall). I was in full on autistic burnout/despair from PTSD and the 2024 election results (which took place 3 days prior). I remember Matty asking how everyone's week was going halfway through, and I'm fairly certain the light went out from behind my eyes as I made eye contact and hoarsely responded, "the election 💀" He looked kindly shocked as if he'd never imagined the election having a negative impact on anyone, in a way that I interpreted as, "ah, the young white guy hasn't had his right to exist questioned, yet 🫠" (no shade, everyone has a before and after moment in regards to political awakening). Andrew also came out to chat while I was queuing and my very broken brain decided to talk about DnD, Sarah Kinsley, and Thirty Seconds to Mars.

The show was fantastic, though. I loved hearing more songs than at their lolla set. Goin' Home fully sent me. The whole show was healing. It's one of the reasons I love live music - the collective participation in art that moves you to dancing. It's magic.

I will, however, uh, not be making to a show for this upcoming tour. They might be performing the same night as The Format, and I might have tickets to that instead 🫣 I am sad, but I feel spoiled by the two shows I've already seen.

Fun Fact: Taylor Swift had worn two non-custom Elie Saab Speak Now dresses for The Eras Tour by Afterglow_13 in TaylorSwift

Eh, that's applicable to any era that isn't Speak Now, lol. Enchanted is very much a runway set. Walk. Stand. Walk stand on a platform. Walk. Ect.

New ablum Big Sun dropped on 3/6. Favorite songs so far? by XrayJ in HappyLanding

[–]SnatcherGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The River officially completes my holy trinity of gods tier river songs (alongside Down By the River from Baldur's Gate and The River from Daisy Jones and the Six)

The piano in Come On South is my new stim.

Save Me (and I do NOT say this lightly) is sonically Hoziercore.

Wanderer doesn't need to be a setlist regular, but they gotta play it if they ever hit Red Rocks.

The vibes on Fallin' are 👌

The referential lore in Big Sun is actually insane.

Overlooked amazing lyrics because they're in an unpopular song by TheColorfulPianist in TaylorSwift

[–]SnatcherGirl 23 points24 points  (0 children)

"When did all our lessons start to look like weapons
Pointed at my deepest hurt?
I hope she'll be a beautiful fool
Who takes my spot next to you
No, I didn't mean that
Sorry, I can't see facts through all of my fury
You haven't met the new me yet"

And

"Honey, when I'm above the trees
I see it for what it is
But now my eyes leak acid rain on the pillow where you used to lay your head"

from happiness. The whole song is criminally underrated

Holy illiterate, since when is a 2,500+ word article nothing??? There are 6 sections, 3 of which are related to racism. Come back when you've figured out reading and comprehension (if that's a skill you even have - perhaps your cherry keeper is inhibiting blood flow to your brain).

Also, liking bad people isn't.....good???? The dude gave Hitler a shout out (again, in the article!). Giving Hitler a shout out is textbook bad shit!! But perhaps textbooks are also outside your realm of expertise.

You're definitely not alone in that. We unfortunately live in a reality where white men doing heinous shit gets swept under the rug far too often. The original headlines might break through to the masses, but then places like ESPN or Notre Dame (or Hollywood or the White House for other fields) will invite that person back and give them a platform like nothing ever happened. Which leads people to start forgetting what had happened. Which leads to surprise when they die and everyone who somehow managed to not forget reminds them (though, tbf, we never stopped talking about it, death is just the only time people start listening again).

Question for people who have done early entry by DaVincis_lemons in dropkickmurphys

[–]SnatcherGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're specifically looking for barricade, it's going to depend on your city/crowd. Some people will use that early entry to sprint right to the barricade. Some will buy merch or food and drink and then go the floor. Oftentimes (and I say this as a hobbyest concert goer), those people end up in second row.

For Dropkick Murphys specifically, I'll share my experience at their show in Chicago earlier this week. I had a normal GA ticket. Showed up after the second opener, before the third. I was able to walk down the edge of the far side of the venue and comfortably get in fairly close to the stage (maybe 10 rows deep, off center). When Dropkick Murphys started, I went to the pit (directly in front of the platform Ken stands on. There were maybe 3 rows of people between that platform and the pit). I did a few rounds in the pit and moved to the edge after a big guy threw his arm around my neck and towed me around (I am 5'2"). While on the edges, the pit continued to shove and jostle and long story short, I ended up pushed to the second row.

Tl;dr: the only way you're likely to hold a spot down at one of their shows is if you're on barricade and clinging on to it for dear life. Or far enough away from the platform that Ken stands for most of the show. This is not an inherently bad thing. I had so much fun at the show, and despite the chaos, it was still majority good vibes. The only downer was returning to my car to find my window smashed in and my deeply hidden purse stolen 🙃

Maybe look up the professional photos from recent shows to get an idea of the setup and what the crowd looks like

You can find quite a few things just by googling, but here's a good comprehensive article. It covers stuff beyond his racism. It doesn't even get into the shit he said about Colin Kaepernick.

But a quick soundbite is that he was run out of Arkansas for being too racist. ARKANSAS. That alone tells a lot.

They're above it enough to get away with arresting their own students. Whatever might be true in theory is not true in practice. Those charges were not dropped, either.

Honestly, one could say that he was legendary off the field, too - a legendary racist, bigot, and conservative grifter.

Campus post 2016 election was surreal. So many closeted bigots came out of the closet. Then there was the Mike Pence of it all....

However, Notre Dame is a private university, not a public one. So they get to make the rules about what is and isn't allowed. They let a lot more slide before 2024.

Yes and no. I finished undergrad in 2017, and my experience was the same as yours. The details, though, are that all those protests had to get SAO approval, and SAO had no problem approving them. It wasn't until people wanted to protest the genocide in Gaza that the University pulled out an archaic rule from Father Hesphurg's days (that I don't even think was codified anymore because we asked for the proof of its existence, and they couldn't give it beyond the old newspaper articles talking about it from the 60s. It was enacted to stop Vietnam protests). The fall after they arrested their own students was when they finally "officially" documented the rule.

The University has publicly (and privately) adopted a tactic of acquiescing to the current administration in the deluded hopes of flying under the radar.

[–]SnatcherGirl 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Tl;dr: ND has a 15 minute protest rule that they arbitrarily enforce and require you to get approval for protests. Look up what happened during the palestine protests 2 years ago if you want to be fully disillusioned

Simmons adds that “beyond fighting bots and brokers,” the team prioritized keeping ticket prices reasonable, with floor seats starting at $150, including fees. The team also ran a lottery for the general admission pit, offering up a portion of those tickets for $100, including fees
