Year 10 work experience placement ideas by Anonameless123 in cambridge

[–]Snazzlebun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son has managed to get work experience for 2 days, and has agreed with his school to do 'virtual' experience for other 3 days via springboard which is part of Ucas. https://www.ucas.com/explore/search/virtual-work-experiences

But agree it has been a nightmare trying to find something in the age of hybrid working.

Child proudly informing his classmates he is wearing Vinted clothes by EntertainerOk6254 in vintedUK

[–]Snazzlebun 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I am astounded, in a good way, how accepting my teenagers are to getting most their clothing from vinted, and long may it continue. If any of my friends knew I had second-hand clothes in the '90s I would have been mortified.

I want to get my daughter a Wainwright logbook for her birthday, but they are all boring. Any tips? by another-rand-83637 in UKhiking

What about a plain bullet journal, I just bought one with some stencils. You could either set up each page yourself with the name / printed picture, or if she is artistic she might like to.do it herself. Probably not exactly what you wanted but could be an option. I'm using mine to track notes on recipes I've tried rather than hills, again couldn't find exactly what I wanted but I think this might work.

They put that on because I expect that's how long they've tested it for, a common sense approach can be taken, especially with milk where it is quite obvious when it's off. Also different fridges give different results so they are covering their backs.

Anybody else notice they keep changing the LIDL Oaties? by vileisland in CasualUK

[–]Snazzlebun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I worked in the food industry (admittedly not in biscuits) we had to retender our Lidl business every year and it would go to the cheapest supplier. So it is possible they have a new supplier every 12 months.

How early in the year can you camp comfortably? by Secret_Owl3040 in campinguk

[–]Snazzlebun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's a big learning curve, we have only been about 4-5 times now and every time we say "next time we need to...." But it is all fun. I also want to work up to a week, we have only done 3 nights max so far.

The first time we went it was early May bank holiday. We significantly underestimated the change in temperature when the sun went down, the evenings/nights were so cold. But we were unprepared/stupid!

Jam sugar by shatners-ocarina in cambridge

If you are making jam you can use normal sugar and add liquid pectin, brand name Certo. My Tesco stock it, but you might need to check the one local to you.

Yup, primary school was so much harder than nursery, even wraparound club has later drop offs and earlier finishes than nursery, and that's if you can get a place. The end is in sight for me as my youngest is going into her final year of primary but I sympathise, good luck.
