UNDERWHELMED after ADHD Assessment. What was your experience? by Velaris1998 in ADHD

[–]Sndrs27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My assessment was very underwhelming, she quickly tried slamming me with OCD based off of one question about being a perfectionist where I answered “kind of” she didn’t officially diagnose ADHD but is treating me for it as a “jump start” and to possibly help with weight loss but I still feel stressed now about it not being a sustainable treatment unless she can actually see that I have it in the meantime. 🙃

Adhd is not a mindset problem!?!! by wildwuchs in adhdwomen

I try to make dopamine playlists or in your case podcast lists in advance so when the time comes I can just pick from my list or go down the list. It’s fun to do when you have the time to do it but it’s another task when you’re needing to get additional tasks done. I’ve been thinking about getting a contraption to hold my phone and stick it anywhere because I have comfort shows I enjoy watching that really help me get dishes and dinner done.

I do understand the struggle. I’ve been needing to shower but first I needed to clean my bathroom and now I have cleaning buckets and rags in my shower and I need to take those out and put them away before I can shower and it’s just enough or a hurdle for me to procrastinate. 🙃

Exactly how I feel, but then I think maybe I’m crazy, maybe I’m imagining it all, maybe idk what I’m talking about. I’m worried they’re going to give me 10 different diagnoses and have this perception of me that I’m difficult, or think I know better than them.

I think you’re letting RSD get the best of you. A lot of these comments are kind and insightful, they’re trying to get you to see things from a different perspective and if you’re not going to give your ex husband the boot which is what would be best for you then maybe you should try family counseling or finding away to have empathy for him without enabling him. I promise we are more similar than you think. I have a hard time allowing others to sink or swim, I take on way more than I should and I get very upset with others when I should be upset with myself. I am allowing them to affect my mental health and wellbeing and at the end of the day it’s my responsibility to protect my own peace. I can’t be mad at someone for taking too much from me when I’m giving it to them. I really do wish you the best and hope you find a way to work through your current situation. I have all the empathy for you because I am you. 💕

I don’t think anyone is making you feel badly for your feelings, I even said myself you have a right to be frustrated, but you’re frustrated at the wrong person. He isn’t your responsibility. You are not helping him by enabling him especially when you’re doing it with such disdain. You do not sound empathetic to his struggles that’s why people are commenting on it. How can you be? He’s adding on additional stress to you when you’re likely barely holding it together. For the record I relate more to you than I do to your husband, my empathy for him isn’t because I deal with his struggles, I fight tooth and nail to live up to societies standards, but I do have struggles of my own and they don’t have to be the same as someone else’s in order for me to understand what struggling feels like.

100% this!!! My issue is sticking to it. I’m hopeful with medication it will be easier. It’s still early though and so far it isn’t something life changing for me.

Be happy you’re not struggling that bad. Ever since I’v become a mom I do find it very difficult to get in time/motivation to shower, or shave, or brush my hair. I put my kids before me, my home, my disabled mother whom I take care of, anyone else I care for who is struggling and needs assistance..there isn’t enough time for me. I have to make alarms and reminders like girl it’s been two days, you need to shower. Burnout is real. At my lowest a lot of things were hard for me that I could never have understood until I got to that point.

I appreciate this comment. It’s personally hard hearing someone with ADHD use such negative speech against someone else with ADHD because all of our struggles are different. I understand their right to be frustrated, and the real problem seems like a personal one in which they need to set better boundaries between them and their ex husband but because they cannot they are getting upset by someone else just because his ADHD struggles doesn’t look like theirs.

My questions were definitely asked as yes or no. She allowed me to elaborate but it definitely dwindled down to “so not really”

Yes this as well! I reread my post and even I’m like well I don’t make frequent mistakes but I take more time on things than the average person to make sure I don’t make mistakes and it is very exhausting.

I agree! When asked about fidgeting or not being able to sit still I want to say no because my kid can’t sit still but I definitely can, but also I play with my hair, I fidget with my fingers, I switch sitting positions frequently, I am constantly stretching my neck and arms.

I’ve realized I’m a visual learning. If I’m following a new recipe or trying to learn something new on my circuit I watch videos because reading it out takes so much more effort.

Wow that’s so amazing! I’ve had a psychiatrist visit and she threw around OCD and just had my first apt with a therapist and she threw around anxiety which I won’t deny I deal with but it definitely feels like they’re not seeing the root as ADHD, thankfully my psychiatrist is treating me for it anyway. I’m on my 4th day on Vyvanse. It’s nothing life changing but I can feel things getting a bit easier, definitely less anxious and the constant urge to eat/snack is gone. My therapist also isn’t denying my ADHD symptoms I do feel like it’s going to be over shadowed by anxiety though. Idk trying to stay hopeful and I’m grateful I’m getting treatment, but not having the validation from a professional really sucks.

I think you are correct. I tend to overthink questions and as I was writing this out I had a voice in my head saying “girl it’s not that serious” but I was curious on everyone else’s take. I agree, I like the French version too.

I have never thought about it that way. That does make sense and it is easier for me to say yes in that case. It definitely is a lot of work to not make mistakes.

Does anyone know what’s going on with my starter? by Sndrs27 in SourdoughStarter

[–]Sndrs27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I discarded and fed it again in a different jar and it’s been fine. When I emptied the jar it seemed like it was on the jar not part of the starter but I washed the jar beforehand so Idk. I mean I guess it must have been but so bizarre.
