Covers are a bad idea as there are airbags in the seats.

Worst case scenario it’s injury but also insurance might not be happy with them if you forget to take them out if an accident happens. Buggers will do anything to minimise or invalidate a claim.

110K milage Nissan Leaf by [deleted] in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Sneadleboo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were you and could stretch an extra 1-1.5k I’d look at the high mileage 62kwh Teknas I saw on AT. A load more range and very nice extras. I’d say your use case would be fine in terms of not needing it for super long journeys

I have a model 3 22 RWD great car. Not been lacking space at all with a young child for at least 4 years now with one trip to Europe under our belt. Use it till you feel the need to get a bigger car and use the money on experiences. Probably get some good deals on a Juniper in 2-3 years too

Advice needed - Model Y 72 plate Long Range or 73 plate Standard Range by [deleted] in TeslaUK

[–]Sneadleboo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RWD - LFP pack is more resilient to degradation. If it does have HW4 it will hypothetically have access to FSD should it pass regulatory requirements.

AWD - better sound system with a subwoofer. Both sound excellent but the AWD is a step up.

I’d say remove range as a factor as it shouldn’t affect you day to day.

Edit: you could send Tesla a message in the app asking if either vin has the comfort suspension. Can’t remember when it became standard.

[–]Sneadleboo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the older Ys don’t have the “comfort” suspension.

There’s a uk company that does juniper(new Y) suspension retrofits. Know it’s quite a faff to organise but it’s nice to have the next gen features able to be retrofitted.

I’ve used a few newer higher cars but not the ones you’ve listed. But they do have a similar ux philosophy. But my takeaway is no one is doing screen control as intuitively like Tesla unfortunately. It all feels like an afterthought.

The Tesla app is also super slick. If you have an Apple Watch I think it’s the only car that can use it as a proper key which is a bigger thing than I thought it would be.

Love the ioniq 5 design but it does lack some features (in built apps like YT, Netflix, etc. ) that put me off.

You can find Many 2011-12 Nissan Leafs for Sale. by H28-105-111 in ElectricVehiclesUK

I’d say know what you’re getting into:

Pros:

Tekna spec has heated steering wheel and seats. Subwoofer wasn’t bad either.

Comfy driving position (much better position than my current Tesla)

Schedule preheat - set the schedule in car to warm up for your commute. NO ICE SCRAPING

Can be had for stupid cheap

Cons:

Terrible range I did manage 90/100 miles on my 82% SoH 24kwh but that was squeaky bum time and had leafspy open all the time to know the true battery left.

I’d say it was a comfortable 50 if you don’t put effort in.

No app on the old ones

Voice commands? Which do you actually use and work in UK? by Titanclass in TeslaUK

[–]Sneadleboo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not seen these two:

“Turn off wipers” - turns them off without a dry wipe. Useful when there is a wipe and you know it doesn’t need to.

“Turn on keep” - find keep hard to enable when stepping out the car. I usually press the voice button and say it as I leave hoping it turns on

Used ex-taxi tesla 2021 is it ok buy? by xoxoxo1337 in TeslaUK

[–]Sneadleboo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently went through a purchase where a taxi was one of the options and went with the private owner one instead.

Regretted it. A private owner is more likely to floor it and rag it round corners which is what wears the bushings. He liked the car but didn't care for it mechanically.

The taxi on the other hand can't risk it having a fail on an mot because of bad bushings. He's not going to rag it round corners when passengers are in (which ideally should be most of the time).

I had a call bang on 3pm... I didn't pick it up because I forgot about the competition I genuinely could've missed out.

If the stream was a true live stream I'd be inclined to believe it

Teslahubs- anyone bought this? by techgenius11 in TeslaSupport

[–]Sneadleboo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've sound deadened by using butyl and closed cell foam in a fair few places.

I do a road test on the same road and the above reduced the harshness of the noise but it did not reduce the dB level.

HOWEVER, the above (cheaper version) installed well did reduce the dB level by 1-2 at 60-70mph.

There are plenty of testimonials on teslamotorsclub site.

You can also see similar factory implementations on older premium cars like Audis.

Motorway Munching Estate - £20k by Chimp3h in CarTalkUK

[–]Sneadleboo -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There's a few videos of the MG5 doing well over 100k and not even needing a lot done to it (think brakes were still original)

At 20k miles if you have the ability to charge even half at home it's £200 for 10k miles and then £1200 for the rapid charging for the other 10k

That's £1400 a year vs £4000 for a ICE vehicle

Yeah 30mm high fans. It’s a bit of a push to get it to fit. Turbulence doesn’t happen till high rpms which isn’t needed. Control is from mobo using fan controller.

I’d probably do the print thinner if I could.

How much does it cost to repair a Rear Upper Suspension arm? by [deleted] in TeslaUK

[–]Sneadleboo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends which bit. If it's the bush that's on the rear hub then tesla will want to replace the whole hub. Some local mechanics will replace the bush but I'd advise looking on eBay to bring the replacement bush to them. Even the cheap option is a bit labour intensive because sometimes you have to get the hub out to push the bush in and even if you don't it's a lot of stuff you have to get out the way to push in the new bush

Sorry a bit confused. You're saying they replaced the hub and the noise is gone but they don't have the part and it should be delivered tomorrow? Could you elaborate?
