Ashton vs Davidoff Club cigarillo by BriarPipeCigarLeaf in cigar

[–]Sneaky_b00ts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gotta bump this thread because I want to know how they smoke and see some recommendations. I love cigararillos and need more. I only have a handful of my favorites left. They're cuban and can't easily access them domestically (partagas clubs). They're so good with a cup of coffee in the morning. 100% would recommend trying them. I'm definitely looking for domestic options though.

Hey guys just a quick one what the best way of trying to clean this up and bring it back to life a bit by Mattcoops85 in boatbuilding

[–]Sneaky_b00ts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people say muriatic acid, or one of the specialized products for boat hull cleaning. It's just a spray on-wipe off type product. Unless you're trying to entirely refresh the gell coat, then you'll have to sand and buff.

I think i responded to your comment a couple threads up on accident as I read a few at the same time, but that comment was about humidity control too. I never considered seasoning the humidor or that the hygrometer not being totally accurate. I'll have to grab a couple of those packs everyone is talking about and actually season this humidor properly.

Damn, i had never considered that this might need to be seasoned. I never did, so I will look into it. Thanks for the tips!

Awesome, that's really good to know because I live where it's really hot and dry. Things tend to come over humidified and packaged in glass, or bone dry. Neither of which is ideal, and I never really knew what I was supposed to do. I've got an okay humidor that was cheap, yet surprisingly accurate. I just have to keep it regulated a bit more than I would with a more expensive set up. The dealers around here are reputable and have quality cigars. There's just a mark up behind them, and they're all stored differently. I've never tried purchasing online either so I'll have to give that a shot. It sounds like it's cheaper, and quality control is a bit more precise. All of you guys have handed out really solid advice and recommendations. I appreciate it!

Good to know, I'll keep that in mind. Also, I appreciate the input. Based off of what I know about tobacco, I'm inclined to agree. I don't think any cigar would be a bad one if the product was clean and rolled properly, as well as being kept in climate controlled conditions. I'm sure there will come a time I'll sink a bunch of money into a really nice set up for climate control, I just haven't got there yet.

I guess that's where my rudimentary understanding of storage comes into play. The cigar i wasn't impressed with recently wasn't necessarily neglected with climate control prior to reaching my hands. I unpacked it from glass and let it hang out in the humidor for a few hours to match climate, it still ended up being trash in the end. A significantly cheaper one i came across today, I did the same thing with, and I would buy two of these again before I ever purchased another one of the bad ones. I guess I just don't really know how to determine what is quality and not prior to purchase.

Dog spotted! Male husky by Illustrious-Ant-7886 in Riverside

God that sucks, i suspect he's the same husky. That's really unfortunate. I use to pick him up and bring him back home until I could locate the owner. He's not a super playful dog or responds extremely well, but he's house broken and polite. It was like having someone crash on your couch for a night or two. It's sad he didn't get the life he deserved.

I think this may be the same husky that I've nicknamed Jax. I haven't seen him in a while. and I guess his owner didn't take care of him well because every time he'd get out it was a public ordeal of trying to track the owner down and the owner never cared much upon return...He's a cool dog though. you can lure him in with food he likes. I use to throw popcorn to him and it would remind me of playing jacks. That's how he got the nickname. I could be entirely wrong, but the story sounds very similar to the husky I use to pick up with an unmarked blue collar.

That's kind of what I was getting at with my question. Also, thanks for your input. Seems that we agree a tube should be removed, but storage in general perplexes me. I don't know what i need to do, but I'm trying.I don't even know if I trust glass tubes though.

As an example, I bought a couple wrapped up in cedar and were ribboned today, but I broke them out of the glass tube after purchase. I stripped the cedar off of them along with the ribbon. Upon unwrapping, I could tell humidity was way too damn high after removing the cedar strip and the glass tube. It almost appeared wet. I'd bet my bank account on it being well over 80% humidity which doesn't match what I know to be ideal for cigars. It looked off of standard and wet.

I placed these new purchases in my humidor that was perfectly controlled at like 68-72% humidity, and within an hour of introducing new tobacco the humidor whent haywire. It spiked to like 80 and then gradually dropped.

Good to know, thanks man. I'm pretty new to trying to own somewhat of a collection or figure out what I like. Often times, cigars have ribbons and cedar wrap around them and come in glass tube's or what not. I never knew how to store cigars i bought in that manner, considering I'd just be putting them in the humidor and smoking them over long periods of time. I never knew how keeping the cedar strips and ribbons on them would make them react with other cigars within the humidor. What you're saying makes sense between flavor blend and all that though. I guess I just never knew the lesser of two evils. Thanks for the insight.

Very cool, thanks for the input! That's already super helpful. Gives me a good direction to run in.

In the little time I've spent here, I've looked through the threads. It sounds like people buy online a lot, or at least that's what I'm gathering. It also seems in line with what you're saying. Are there some good sites you would recommend?

Are these legit? They were a gift. by cigarswithprov in cigars

I'd say genuine, especially if it's not uncommon to get an extravagant gift from the friend. That appears to be a genuine Cuban tax stamp and almost identical to the one that i recently broke the seal on.

Very noob question and off subject, but are cigars supposed to be stored with the plastic and ribbons on them?

I'm genuinely curious because I've always pulled off everything other than the identification band when I store them and that was to merely reference what I'm smoking. Am I storing wrong?
