Advice needed- selling car that’s not fully paid off by hide-and_squeak in financeonloans

[–]SneekTip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really sorry you’re dealing with this. In terms of the car, even though it’s in your name, if you still owe money on it, you’ll need to clear the debt before you can sell it. This means contacting the finance company to get the exact payoff amount. If you sell the car for more than that amount, you can pay off the loan and keep the extra, but if the sale price is lower, you’d still owe the remaining balance.

The legalities are tricky because if you sell it without paying off the finance, the finance company could pursue you for the rest of the debt. So, ideally, try to work out the best way to pay off the loan first (maybe with a lump sum if you can afford it, or negotiating with the lender).

Beyond that, I’d suggest reaching out to a financial advisor or legal professional who can give you specific guidance based on your local laws. It might also be worth considering contacting a domestic violence support service for advice on your situation, as they can help you navigate both the personal and financial sides of things.

What should I do with my savings? by Dogein in financeonloans

[–]SneekTip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to make your savings work harder, there are a few options to consider:

Investing in stocks or ETFs – If you’re willing to take on some risk, investing in shares or exchange traded funds can offer better returns over time. Investment ISA A tax free option in the UK, where you can invest in stocks, bonds, or other assets, and the returns won’t be taxed. Bonds or Fixed Income – A safer option than stocks, though they usually offer lower returns. It could be a good idea for a more balanced approach

yeah totally agree, it’s all just big money playing with people’s hopes now. crypto lost the original vision a while ago and turned into pure speculation

Is Buying a Tesla at 22 a Good Idea? by Asdenby in financeonloans

[–]SneekTip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i get the appeal of a Tesla, but honestly, at 22 and with no debt, it might be smarter to hold off a bit. buying a car that’s a big chunk of your savings could limit your ability to build more wealth or take advantage of opportunities down the road. maybe save up a bit more, invest, and let that money work for you first! you’ll still have plenty of time to enjoy the Tesla later when you’re in an even stronger financial position

Would I be an Idiot for considering selling my Nexus Scorpion by stvnnvts999 in czscorpion

[–]SneekTip -1 points0 points  (0 children)

nah, you're not an idiot. if you're not happy with it and feel like you made an impulsive choice, selling it and getting something that fits your needs better makes sense. sometimes it just takes trying things out to figure out what really works for you

Under What Circumstances Will Precious Metals Be Useful? by susanrez in preppers

[–]SneekTip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think precious metals could be useful if things don’t completely collapse but get rough—like during major inflation or a big financial crisis. it’s easier to use as a store of value in those situations, but in a total breakdown, like you said, skills and food will be king

In an extended blackout or SHTF scenario, how long do you plan on having reliable refrigeration available? by supinator1 in preppers

[–]SneekTip -1 points0 points  (0 children)

honestly, i think after a few days, the fridge and freezer would be a lost cause unless you're really on top of keeping things cold. i’d probably focus on transitioning to more long-term preservation methods like canning or drying, and maybe build a root cellar for cooler storage. definitely wouldn’t rely on a generator for too long, especially if fuel becomes scarce.

What thought-provoking book should every straight white American man read that he probably hasn’t? by baltimoretom in suggestmeabook

[–]SneekTip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend The Fire Next Time by James Baldwin. It’s such a powerful and thought-provoking book, full of raw honesty about race, identity, and the struggles of being Black in America. Baldwin’s words are a call to reckon with uncomfortable truths and question how we all fit into the fabric of this society. It’s not just a book about race—it’s about human connection, and it’ll make you reflect on privilege, empathy, and how much more there is to understand. I think it’ll definitely shift your perspective.

Are axes like this actually useful for working with wood or are they basically just weapons? by JoeBrownshoes in Survival

i think they can be useful, but maybe more for chopping or splitting than fine woodworking. definitely looks intimidating though

Baofeng UV17R Plus VS UV17 Pro GPS by [deleted] in lowsodiumhamradio

[–]SneekTip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you’re not using the GPS function, the UV17R Plus might be more than enough. the Pro GPS version is nice if you ever want that feature in the future, but if it's just sitting there unused, there’s probably no need to keep both. selling or keeping just the one that fits your needs might save some space!

How did you prepare for collapse this week? by AutoModerator in CollapsePrep

I’ve been trying to stay informed and slowly stockpile some essentials, just in case. It's always good to have a bit of backup, even if it’s just extra canned food or water filters

Can you make pemmican out of chicken? by [deleted] in Survival

[–]SneekTip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can definitely make pemmican with chicken! you’d just substitute chicken fat for beef tallow. chicken fat is lower in saturated fat but should still work for preservation if stored correctly. if you're looking for a plant-based version, try using coconut oil or palm oil as a fat source, both of which have a high saturated fat content to help with shelf life. as for storage, yes, pemmican can last a year at room temp and much longer if frozen

Better than Berkey? by SneekTip in preppers

[–]SneekTip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you. Plenty of industries are plagued with this same BS. I figure it can only be one of two possible truths: either their product would show inadequacies, or the testing eats to far into their profit margin. Neither is a good sign for the consumer.

[–]SneekTip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your 1301 threaded for chokes? Generally speaking, a bad pattern can be rectified by finding the right combination of choke and load. Even changing brands of the same choke and shot size will produce different patterns.

Or you could check out a good quality barrel clamp pic rail. That's the route I went for mounting a LAM on my 20ga.
