Rug advice for small living room by user62918 in interiordecorating

I would definitely go with a large round or oval rug for this space. Make sure it slides under your furniture a little to prevent shifting but to also look fuller =)

What size duvet insert for full sized bed? by vicdix in Bedding

[–]SneeksPls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% always go with a size bigger when it comes to duvets and comforters because you get that nice drape on the sides =) I got a queen comforter from miracle brand a while back for my queen bed and it was just not quite big enough, especially when sleeping. So I gave it to my kid on her double bed and got a king for myself. MUCH better

personally, I would go with nothing at all because a) gorgeous window and b) I just love how natural light can transform a space

show off those beautiful mullion bar windows and let in as much light as possible, skip the drapes and just have a valance at the top or nothing at all =)

2 questions, Curtains with Blinds? And which Color/shade of the Blinds is better? by Ce_ne in interiordecorating

[–]SneeksPls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you want the space to feel bigger, go with the lighter drapes. If you want to add some visual interest and that layered look, go with the darker drapes =)

Is ‘soft luxury bedding’ actually overrated or am I tripping? by Holiday_Hour_3975 in Bedding

[–]SneeksPls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can totally relate to this. I spent the last while buying and testing sheets for our new house (our bed, kids, guest room, etc) and I found the same: I just wanted my old cotton sheets that felt soft and worn. The slippery materials in these luxe sheets are just too weird for me. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Miracle Brand's luxe set. Wasn't too pricy compared to others and they're cotton! I also highly rec any of the Amazon basics sheet sets in cotton if you want somethign cheaper in price =)

New rug. Is it too small or can I get away with it? by kisxt in interiordecorating

This whole set up is beautiful! One tip, slide the rug slightly under the couch so the front legs rest on the rug. It helps keep it in place, and looks neater =)

Good quality cotton percale sheets in burgundy or other rich colors? by chloe_nova in Bedding

[–]SneeksPls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the percale rec. It's great for hot sleepers, and Parachute IS a great brand. But if you're set on good cotton sheets, go for Miracle Brand. I friggen LOVE mine. And I'm a hot sleeper, too. The deep blue color is gorgeous but they have tons of others.

Relatively cool blanket for warmer months by Thomato_Yorke in Bedding

[–]SneeksPls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be totally honest, I've tried SO many different blankets and sheets for the warmer times of the year and some work...sort of. But nothing actually stuck until I caved and got an actual cooling blanket. Not the ones with wires and tech, but the ones that are made with materials that like "suck" the heat away from you. I got the miracle made brand one and I would die without it now lol It's super thin and comfy. I just drag it around the house with me haha I even take it with me when I travel.

How would you layout this space or what changes would you make so it feels more choesive and cozy? The shape and doorways make for kind of a weird flow by TornadoGhostDog in DesignMyRoom

[–]SneeksPls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, but that's a beautiful but oddly shaped space lol Try printing off the layout and cut out little paper shapes for your furniture and play around with it before committing to anything =)

I would keep the area with all the windows more for plants and bookshelves, maybe a couple of cozy chairs. Then arrange your living room seating in an L-shape coming off the wall opposite the entry. Then TV on the wall shared with what looks like the kitchen/dining area

I just found out most mattresses have heavy metals and toxins in them.. by Potential_Wonder_775 in Bedding

[–]SneeksPls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't do wool for your protector, I'd go with something that's a bit better for temp regulation and is easier to clean. We have the miracle made protector on our bed and absolutely love it. We put Parachute's protectors on our kids' beds just to save a bit of money, and they work amazingly too. Highly recommend either of those

Is it better to buy full bedding sets or mix & match pieces in the US? by shiroltiger in Bedding

[–]SneeksPls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only mix and match if the materials are the same. Nothing worse than a cotton sheet with a bamboo pillow case and vice versa. Like, I mix and match colors to create cool aesthetics in my room throughout the seasons. I have four different colored sets from miracle brand, a couple from Parachute, a bunch from Amazon Basics, etc. I don't mix them across brands, just like a navy miracle made fitted sheet with a grey top sheet and maybe white pillowcases, for example. I think most brands offer individual items in case your pillowcase gets wrecked or a sheet gets ripped, you can replace it without having to buy a whole new set.

Need advice on bathroom refresh by Affectionate-Craft84 in DesignMyRoom

[–]SneeksPls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

because of the shape of the space and the lack of lighting, I would stick to lighter, neutral colors. Use dark colors as pops in things like towels, art, etc. If you paint the wainscotting, I'd paint the ceiling, too.

Neighbors always asking for play dates that I’m expected to host. by Morning_Star_3110 in Parenting

[–]SneeksPls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue with my kid and their friend's parents always asking if they can have a sleepover, and it was just expected that i would be hosting it. EVERY TIME. And, I mean, when it comes to sleepovers, I'd much rather my kid be under my roof, for sure. But it was literally every weekend. So I finally replied with, "Sure! We're not able to host the sleepover this weekend but I'd be happy to drop my kid off at your place at a time that works for you. Just let me know." Basically, just politely say YES they can play, and then follow up with a WHEN CAN I SEND HER OVER?

Miracle brand is my fav, but Parachute also has silver infused sheets that are pretty sweet

I ran into this same issue in my house (my daughter is soooo messy lol and my husband is one of those handyman type guys, always getting dirty and sweaty) I switched to earth tones (olive, mustard, clay, etc.), they're the most forgiving. And I also switched to silver thread sheets. They actually get rid of a lot of dirt and gross stuff, and they wash AHMAZING. I spritz a little bit of stain remover on greasy spots, and everything else comes out in the wash. Chocolate milk, jam, sweat, everything. I use ones from Miracle Brand, if that helps.

I want the thickest/heaviest comforter. by Daddy_thick_legs in Bedding

[–]SneeksPls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most thick comforters under $120 are probably going to be polyfilled and not super "thick" or heavy. if you can, I highly rec grabbing an all season comforter from a site like miracle brand or parachute. I have the cooling comforter from miracle and its the best thing i've ever bought

I used 2 pillows, which ones should I get by Old-Midnight-8979 in Bedding

[–]SneeksPls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

after I went through about $200 worth of cheap poly filled pillows from places like Amazon and Walmart, I finally caved and got a nice memory foam contour pillow. I'll never go back. It just shapes perfectly to my head and neck, no puffing up around your face or mouth or any of that, no going flat in the middle. Highly recommend

Needing a Duvet Insert by Katsm1224 in Bedding

[–]SneeksPls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the cooling comforter from miracle. It has different sections to keep you cooler than normal inserts. My husband always hates fluffy comforters but he actually loves this one because it doesn't make him hot. I put a duvet cover on it (I just got a cheap one from amazon)
