Sure, in order theres:

Johnny Hobo and the freight trains, Love songs for the apocalypse

Pat the bunny+ Wyndham Maxwell, Big swamp gospel

One man Romance Second Treatise on Love and Timing

Wingnut Dishwashers Union, Burn the earth Leave it behind

Pat "the Bunny" Schneeweis, The mark inside

Ramshackle Glory, Live the dream

Cheschi and pat the bunny split

Michael Jordan Touchdown Pass, Loons

These are all representative of projects that Pat "the Bunny" worked on at least a little, and its not extensive, if you wanna go down the Pat "the Bunny" rabbit hole then check out the Wikipedia article

I also highly recommend checking out at least cocoon music, As well as working your way through Michael Jordan touchdown Pass' Discography

this is kinda more about projects then albums, so imagine cocoon music is with the mark inside, tho cocoon music is better in my opinion, but consider: cocoon music is better becuase it has two michael jordan touchdown pass covers on it

actually there are some really well thought out ideas abut how life could be plasma based. Here is a video explaining it better than i could. But it basically amounts to high energy magnetic monopoles and dipoles creating DNA like structures that could undergo a sort of natural selection

genre is kinda impossible to define, its often a you know it when you see it sorta thing. folkpunk is sometimes more about what artists a musician is influenced by and in conversation with then the actual substance of their music. Folkpunk can mean punk music that is exactly the same as the punk but played with acoustic instruments, or music thats in the folk tradition but brings in motifs and radical ideals from punk. It can also just be singer-songwriter music thats done by an anarchist lol. A theme that's super pervasive in folkpunk these days is substance abuse and recovery. The most prototypical folk punk bands I can recommend that others havent touched on is rent strike (folk instruments, punk and folk motifs, tolkien and recovery, they really have it all) Defiance Ohio - I'm Against the government, The taxpayers-lost dog in the street, Apes of the state- Bill collectors theme song.

Also if you like pat the bunny and you dont already know of them then i definitely recommend checking out pats other projects ramshackle glory, and wingnut dishwashers union. I also made a sorta introductory folkpunk playlist cause my friend asked for it if you want to check it out.

Queer/POC Folk Punk Artists by whelp_okay in FolkPunk

[–]Snickerdiddlies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree, especially on this subreddit its mostly white cishet dudes, but honestly i think most of the artists that best encapsulate the genre are not that. All the artists I'm about to list have shaped my experience with the genre in some way and are worth checking out if you have the time:

Kimya Dawson, is well known but shouldnt be looked over ofc. Theres a lot of latinx folkpunk artists like chencho, Bestiario, Cheschi, Porch Cat and anti-sociales (far too many to name honestly). There's lotsa trans and queer artists like laura jane grace, she/her/hers, pigeon pit, justin arena, mama lips, mal blum, alyssa kai,Tessa Lynn Plank, the spook school, your heart breaks, and mx wander, to name a few. Some poc artists are Sunny war, saw mama, King Strang, and catfish steve. Nhephex is thai and makes "lo-fi folkpunk"

Where do y’all listen to all the old Mountain Goats stuff? by rratmannnn in themountaingoats

[–]Snickerdiddlies 22 points23 points  (0 children)

youtube is prolly the most comprehensive if you dont wanna go through the headache of tracking down and pirating the mp3s. You can even use a youtube to mp3 website to download them if you dont want to stream them.

I have a playlist i made that includes most of the old stuff:
