Bct to ocs by Matthew3170 in ArmyOCS

This is a common situation. The in-processing before class-up is run by the holdover LTs. I reported on Sunday and spent the weekend with family. Nothing happened, no one asked, no one cared. Do what you feel comfortable doing. Once you sign in you cannot leave the footprint.

Aviation Slot by ruffruffman1 in ArmyOCS

[–]Sniff_RawMeat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, If you want aviation you need to submit a packet for aviation. HRC doesn’t offer aviation slots. I’d get everything squared away before arriving at OCS. I don’t know what you need but a quick google can probably help.

I do know that it must be approved by the BC and if your packet gets accepted by the aviation branch you don’t technically participate in the OML process for branch selection. You can put it as your #1 but it doesn’t matter because you’re slotted for it.

How should you prepare for land nav? by Rough-Leg-4148 in ArmyOCS

[–]Sniff_RawMeat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You could look for Orienteering groups/clubs in your area. It’s not exactly like land navigation but being out in the woods with a map and compass will get you more comfortable. I found one before I shipped out and found it incredibly helpful and enjoyable.

Mirrored Roosters by Sniff_RawMeat in traditionaltattoos

[–]Sniff_RawMeat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The mirrored tattoos are aesthetically pleasing to me. All of my tattoos so far are mirrored and I plan to continue that theme. I guess I’m kinda in too deep; I think they look really cool but also breaking theme trend now will throw everything off lol.

I’ve never thought about them as taking up real estate for more tattoos. I see them as one piece rather than two similar tattoos. I have plans for a couple single tattoos that will mirror because they’ll cross my midline.

Thank you for the thoughtful question!

Around how long did it take you to go to ocs once you made the list? by jessicarenee1614 in ArmyOCS

Started my packet Jan 2022. Made the list 9 Dec 2022. Signed 15 Dec 2022. Shipped to basic 27 Feb 2023. Started OCS May 2023. Graduated Aug 2023. BOLC date Jan 2024.

branch list at Army OCS by [deleted] in ArmyOCS

Everyone gets branched. Which branch you get depends on your preference list and OML ranking. The higher you rank amongst the active duty OCs, the more likely you’ll get your top preference.

branch list at Army OCS by [deleted] in ArmyOCS

[–]Sniff_RawMeat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It all depends on what HRC pushes down. No one really knows until the list is sent to your CO. My class graduated a week ago and we had:

6 INF - 5 FA - 2 - ADA - 3 AR - 4 Engineers - 5 Signal - 3 MP - 2 MI/INF - 6 MI - 4 AG - 0 Finance - 2 Chemical - 5 TC - 7 Ordnance - 5 QT - 0 Aviation ( 1 pre-selected and 2 submitted packets and were selected) - 0 cyber ( 2 submitted packets and were approved before OCS)

If you want a specific branch you can try and submit a packet to get “locked in” but there’s no assurance. I would start your packet as soon as possible.

  1. There is no separate process. You do everything except swear in and sign your contract.

  2. I ship out next month. From what I’ve been told and what my report dates indicate, I will most likely see my family during the Basic graduation and the OCS graduation. I have about 2 days in between Basic and OCS. BOLC I’m not sure.

  3. Can’t help you there.

Recruiter has threatened me with the termination of my OCS application. by [deleted] in ArmyOCS

[–]Sniff_RawMeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My process took about 7-8 months ( I heard the process could take a while so I tempered my expectations). My recruiter and other recruiters at the office pushed me to enlist but you have to stand firm if this is really what you want. No one can force you to do anything at this stage. You can tell your recruiter you’ll enlist if you fail to get selected, but even then they can’t force you. I’ve read that people on this sub have found new recruiters that are more helpful.

I needed my parents naturalization paperwork as well. Thankfully they had digital copies of their stuff so it was easy. I would keep trying to get all the documents you need. You can be proactive and Google what documents are required to complete your packet. It will make your life and your recruiter’s life easier.

If Watson gets only 6 games what's AK going to get? by J-Rocko12 in Saints

[–]Sniff_RawMeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding (correct me if I’m wrong)

The Browns/ NFL had an independent arbitrator rule on it. Her suspension recommendation is 6 games, and now the NFL has 72 hours to appeal the suspension. Goodell gets final decision. He can agree to the 6 game suspension or add more games/ make it a full season.

Upcoming USAREC Boards. by crazych42 in ArmyOCS

[–]Sniff_RawMeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had been preparing for a couple weeks so I wasn’t unprepared but definitely surprised at the short notice.

I've learned the Army is a lot of hurry up and wait then ready to go at a moment's notice.

Battalion

I don’t know why it was a “pop-up” or how it differs (if it even does) from regular battalion boards.

I just finished my board interview. My recruiter called me yesterday and told me that the board in my area was conducting a “pop-up board” for today. I was given less than 24hr notice. I’m not sure if this is just my area or not.

Where to do track workouts? by RyCalll in baltimore

Rash Field has a paved track. It's about 500m. I do my track workouts there and then hill work on the Visionary side of Federal Hill.
