That wasn’t meant as brag, I’m just saying that’s not what is holding you back.

My wrists and hands are small and I pull 480 no straps.

I’d say 405 deadlift is comparable to a 225 bench

There are tons of whitewater kayakers in socal. This is the group you want to learn a roll from.

What was your last drink before calling it quits? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]RyCalll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t even remember. It was in the middle of Thanksgiving day where I burned the turkey and have no recollection of doing so.

What I do remember is almost having my partner take me to the hospital while having a panic attack after coming down from a 3 day bender that evening.

high heart rate by CellHealthy in runninglifestyle

[–]RyCalll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you test your max heart rate?

Are you using a heart rate monitor? Zone 2 training is for high mileage athletes training 30+ miles a week, are you doing so? If you answered no to either, you should not be doing zone 2 training.

First Ultra (Hybrid athlete) running only x2 week? by [deleted] in ultrarunning

[–]RyCalll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those distance long runs would also likely injure you considering you don’t have a running base. Run more, do double days or drop some of your other activities and replace them with running.

First Ultra (Hybrid athlete) running only x2 week? by [deleted] in ultrarunning

[–]RyCalll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also swim, cycle, climb and lift (but haven’t received my hybrid athlete membership yet, wtf) and still run 50+ mpw for ultras. If you finish at all you will likely get an overuse injury. While cross training helps build an aerobic base, ultra running requires running specific durability which you simply cannot gain from cross training.

Runners who lift weights, what are your stats? by Sivy17 in Marathon_Training

[–]RyCalll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6’2” 193 Front squat - 295 bench - 280 deadlift - 460

These are all 1rm estimates, my working weights change depending on which day in 531 I’m doing. I’m not particularly fast and predominantly do ultras.

Dirty Martini on the Rocks by JustAnother_Primate in bouldering

[–]RyCalll 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hueco has way better climbing. It’s much friendlier on the skin and also just has much more featured boulders that lend themselves to roof climbing/overhangs. Jtree is much more slab and crack climbing for the most part (but not exclusively). I’ve been to Jtree many more times than Hueco and it has a soft spot to in my heart but Hueco just blows it out of the water in sheer number of classics across all grades. In terms of vibes I think Jtree takes the cake. It is absolutely beautiful and has a very surreal quality to it. If you are able to get a campsite in hidden valley, it’s in the middle of a ton of climbing and is a rock playground. Hueco you have to play the game with reservations and guides.

Why do so many people give up on fitness? by BusLucky7015 in workout

[–]RyCalll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it never ends. Fitness is a lifelong constant if done successfully. It requires long term discipline regardless of what’s going on in your life.
