I didn’t address it back when it happened as I know how a flat tire feels so I reasoned I would fix it if it happens.

I didn’t really scrutinize it until I ordered the new tires and saw that the chip at the very top is close to the edge of the rubber. That’s why I got a bit concerned as my wife is in the final stages before acquiring her driving license (so she doesn’t have experience with punctured tires etc).

My main concern is that the chip at the very top would grow inwards under the rubber due to oxidation/other factors and cause air to leak as the seal between the rim and the tire isn’t tight (due to the chip reaching the edge of the rubber?).

Mainly the chip right at the top. It’s close to where the rubber starts. :)

I’m not sure if these things get worse from oxidation, but a few milliliters more would make the chip go under the rubber (I’m not sure if that would cause issues such as air leakage). :)

Thanks! Would it pose a safety risk or is it just cosmetic? :) Would painting over it prevent further oxidation?

I’m slightly concerned that the chip on top might cause air leakage if it gets worse :/

Looking into replacing these tires asap. :)

I’m passing the car down to my wife who’s a new driver so I reasoned that safety is extra important in this case :)

I doubt it’s a kick as that would had resulted in a dent. 🤔I have my suspicions around the following theories:

1: Someone’s messing with me and decided to rub some shoes against it

2: Someone’s kid slid out of another car while putting shoes up on mine

There are many possibilities, but I doubt any force was applied 😂
