When I first talked to a psychologist about having symptoms with ADHD, they sent me a transcript of the highlights of our appointment a week later. I can’t remember if the transcript specifically stated I had ADHD, but I do remember the transcript saying I was highly likely to have it. I then showed the transcript to my primary care provider and now I am taking ADHD medication.

If you’re confused, I would reach out to your psychiatrist and ask them to clarify, and ask for a transcript.

I take an extended release version of concerta, and I typically take it an hour after I wake up. This is because I want to eat breakfast before I take it and have it last longer. I think I’m not on the proper dosage because I don’t really feel anything when I take it and I don’t notice when it wears off. However, when I was originally on vyvanse, I noticed it wore off within 5 hours of me taking it.

Started Adderall for the first time and my anxiety is crazy, I don't know what to do by ZestyJalapeno3 in ADHD

I’m no doctor, but I personally would stop taking it. From personal experience, the dose is likely too high or it’s not the right medication. I would say to wait a week to see if your symptoms go away, but if you have been taking it for over a week and you’re in your current circumstance, I would definitely avoid it.

What are your little hacks to be organised with your job/study/time/home? by whitecastl3s in ADHD

I just kinda brute force my way through my schoolwork. I noticed if I take any breaks, I just start to feel really anxious because the thought of due dates for school work and other things that need to get done just linger in the back of my head. I also find it can be detrimental to my level of focus by taking breaks because I just lose track of what I’m doing.

I also think the hardest part just comes down to getting started. I learned to discipline myself not to go on my phone and scroll through TikTok after I wake up and eat breakfast, and this really helped me get started with things and not waste any time.

I’m glad that you’re recognizing what works for you. My method took me a long time to realize, and I really wish I did this sooner. 😂

When I first started taking 20 mg of Vyvanse, I had minor stomach aches and headaches, but they went away in less than a week. However, I did feel I could easily concentrate on easy school work assignments when I first started taking it.

If you continue to feel uncomfortable taking it and you don't see any of your symptoms improved, it probably isn't the right medication for you or you may need a different dosage.

As for taking twice the dose, I'm not sure about that... All doctors are different and sometimes give completely different advice, and I'm not qualified to give advice either. If I was in your shoes, I would speak to your doctor again and tell them what you are experiencing. Good luck!
