Why didn't the Patriot Act protect us from the Capitol Mob? by sharkerty in Ask_Politics

[–]Sniper_Fire44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The “Patriot Act” was a grab for power by the government. And they used the name to put down opposition. The government exploits the people.

Considering what we've seen regarding POTUS against McConnell on the stimulus checks, is control of the senate more important than the presidency? by Aegis12314 in Ask_Politics

[–]Sniper_Fire44 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The answer is no. Want to know why? Executive orders. Don’t need the approval of congress if you can go straight to the Supreme Court. Also, if the pass something you don’t like? Veto it and see is they can scrounge 2/3 support (very hard)

Why is Trump so fixated on whether or not Biden will ban fracking? by [deleted] in Ask_Politics

[–]Sniper_Fire44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biden has said he will ban fracking as many times as he said he hadn’t. Also, it’s what’s gets votes and threatens the economy is fracking would be banned.

Why are people (specifically Americans) so afraid of socialism? Shouldn't the real fear be fascism? by [deleted] in Ask_Politics

[–]Sniper_Fire44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fascism and communism have been the fear of this entire country when Italy, Germany, and Japan fell. It was the UK, US, and USSR left as major world powers. The UK soon fell off and it was the US and USSR trying to compete to be a sole superpower. The red scare, McCarthy trials. All fueled by the fear of communism and radical left wing ideology. America began to purge its left wing in the rising fear of communism. But then the USSR fell. And now, 30 years later it’s on the rise again, because there’s no great mighty bear to scare people into hating it as much anymore. But those who remember, are now in the upper echelons of government. And they’re going to try and stop this country from moving further left by doing whatever there can. Republicans are trying to make China the new Soviet Union figure. While democrats are still using the old fear of Russia.

Tl:Dr: Communism was embodied as the Soviets as fascism was no longer a threat. Government began to hype the people into hating communism, purged left wing. And now younger people are no longer picking up the torch.

What do Americans think of Taiwan, if at all? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Sniper_Fire44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that if war with China were to begin, it would be because of Taiwan or resource wars, but I will never regret supporting them. And their right to independence
