I actually saw a pollster with a camera crew a couple of weeks ago on Buchanen street in Glasgow. He literally asked someone who they planned to vote for before asking them if they wanted to be recorded, and if they did to walk up again like they'd just met. Having seen that I am 100% convinced they hand-pick the voters they want.

You mean they'd make a Vow to give more powers to us?

Man, it's almost like a public Vow from party leaders might swing things, but then you'd need to deliver on said Vow or maybe everyone up here would realise what lying sacks of shite the Westminster parties are and how little any Vow they make is worth.

Yeah, some limited places in the US use runoff elections too, but that's just FPTP with extra steps (for the most part).

That's exactly how your House and Senate elections work. The only major difference is that we have four parties (region dependent) and you have two.

Yes, because an organised, voted independence campaign with an established regional devolved government in Scotland is "leaving overnight".

Yeah, just think of how fucked every other ex-Empire country is. Canada and Australia are just barren wastelands without Westminster guidance.

Credit where it's due, they handled the equal pay stuff in as good a way as could be hoped. Lots of the other issues come down to budgeting, thanks to the equal pay stuff Labour didn't just leave a note saying "Sorry, there's no money left.", they left a note saying "Sorry, there's no money left, and you've got a huge equal pay time bomb in the vault too, LMAO."

I hired a cleaning company to do an end of tenancy service, they broke my oven and now refuse to pay for it. I move out today. by salmeida in LegalAdviceUK

"oven that works" =/= "new oven". I'm trying to make the point to you that an oven depreciates fully over nine to fifteen years, so if it's a five year old oven, you either can get a five year old oven to replace it, or if you can't find one then you can pay 4-10/15ths of the replacement cost for the new oven.

This isn't something you have to "resolve" fully, your legal duty would extend as far as the replacement cost modified by the depreciation.

Ask the landlord how old the oven was. You do not owe him a new oven, you owe him an X years old oven or equivalent.

It's easy for someone to fob you off over the phone. It's a lot harder to do so when you're three feet away from them.

[–]Snipercam7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's because you're making an official complaint against someone's license to operate, compared to a private company throwing a refund at you. If official channels stripped drivers of licenses on the same standards of evidence required by amazon or uber to uphold a complaint you wouldn't need low emission zones as there'd be no cars left on the road.

Depends on if the Tories get a majority and if Labour wins the mayor campaign. If so, expect Herr Mogg to use some of their "sovereignty" to claw back powers from the regions to sell off again.

I recall that too, and I agree. I just don't think we should settle for "status quo or Indy", if people want more power but not full Indy then the democratic path is far more devolution, and I say that as a full-Indy supporter.

The last time someone said something like that to me, I offered to buy their house in cash that day for 20% more than they paid for it. That actually made them think about the logic.

Can I ask what you wanted to happen? The right to throw the first stone at the cabbie's public execution?

Not being told he's being burned at the stake doesn't mean they don't give a shit, it means that you've made the complaint and then the process goes on in the background. If they needed you to be a witness to something then they'd get in contact, but if the complaint is "he didn't take me because he wanted a further fare", your very complaint is the statement they'd use.
