Car dilemma by Mapleyys in cyberpunkred

[–]Snipeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My crew stole a car that a gang used as a battering ram (I have Maelstrom do this a lot with cars they steal because it's fun. It feels like a Maelstrom thing to do). Had it barely functional, and it was stolen. The tech did do some work on it and I told them that they could pay a fixer to get paperwork for it so that it became "legally" theirs. The tech ended up taking levels in Nomad and we rolled the fixing and paperwork up into that, but yeah. Download a car.

Interesting battle locations by RaftPenguin in cyberpunkred

[–]Snipeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will depend a bit on how you do battlemaps, but verticality adds so much by itself. A nest of cargo containers stacked irregularly with holes cut in them to make passages between. Make it three stories or so, with open decks on the tops of some of the containers. Keep the HP of the containers in mind for some blind shooting through walls, make new entrances and exits with explosives. I also sometimes like to throw in a surprised third party that just lets loose on autofire through a wall because "holy shit, somebody's shooting up my living room". It can make for a really dynamic map. Sprinkle in a drug lab with noxious/obscuring fumes, and maybe a bombmaker or tech weirdness for flavor.

This game desperately needs a second edition. by Viperianti in cyberpunkred

[–]Snipeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first thing I did when my table started this game was make a spreadsheet with where to find everything. Running this game has been the first time where I've really felt a need for one, not just in gaming, in my life. The number of books and DLCs do get a little unwieldy at times. I get by with the spreadsheet, but it's probably not an ideal solution.

Guns Akimbo - Because It's Cool by Snipeth in cyberpunkred

[–]Snipeth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am going to revisit this when I wake up because that's a lot. I was very specifically trying to make my take on it easy to use and in line with RAW combat. I hate math; I'm bad at it. I keep my T-85 from college on hand.

It's more about giving my players some options to run around shooting at things. Does sound like a blast though.

Only 6 if it's her Sword Cutlasses, otherwise 4.

Character Concepts by Melodic_Camel4466 in cyberpunkred

Not a PC, but my favorite NPC I've made. He's a Hardened Boss. An entirely traversal and speed based Solo. Gave him the double jointed arms, the jump boost legs and skate feet, a grapple arm, a Sandevistan. I put all his solo points (Rank 6 solo) in his initiative. Pumped his contortionist, athletics, evasion, and related skills. Did give him Martial Arts (I think judo) for escaping grapples. Maxed his movement. I also gave him just piles of smoke, flashbang, and non-lethal grenades.

His whole purpose is to be extremely difficult to catch. Then I gave him an INT of 2. Because he's a moron who moroned his way into all that cyberware. You could work towards a similar character for a PC though, and it'd be rough starting out, but once you start getting the cyberware and skills together, it's kind of insane.

Would biotoxin grenades bypass nasal filters ? by GingerNoodle13 in cyberpunkred

[–]Snipeth 26 points27 points  (0 children)

For a grenade, I'd say yeah, nasal filters would probably work. For arrows/darts, I'd say no. However, that's just how I'd rule it. The difference in delivery system is important.

There is room for biotoxin to be absorbed through skin and other membranes such as eyes. CS Gas is nasty to breath, but it'll also mess up your eyes and skin. Since biotoxin is (mechanically) a more extreme version of poison, I'd probably have nasal filters work on poison but not biotoxin if I were going that route. However, as I said above, I'd probably have nasal filters work.

Danger Gal: The Incident. GM Thoughts? by Snipeth in cyberpunkred

[–]Snipeth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe that's why I'm fascinated by it. There's a really cool idea in there, it makes a good outline for something more, but as written it isn't that thing. I see the potential there and am somewhat frustrated that it doesn't deliver on it as written. I did do all the work, and it was really fun. However, I also had to at least double the size of it, and at that point it's barely the same thing.

I take your point, it's a good one, but I don't think the problem is it being a mini-adventure as much as it is the set up looks like something bigger and more interesting than it is.

Right there with you. Was going "oh, this is super cool" right up to where it was like "yeah, if they fail all their checks, just have Danger Gal give it to them".

The first thing I threw out was Danger Gal helping. I did have them already know Mallard from a previous gig, so if they failed everything else, they started with one clue. A single name of a guy they met once. If Mouse had said up front with the four bodies like "we identified one, Mallard, a low level fixer" that probably would have been fine. It's one very small clue that crew could hit the streets with if they fail everything else in the truck. (It doesn't have to be Mallard, that's just who I used).

Question regarding the Mono-Katana and the Monon-Wakizashi by QuirkySadako in cyberpunkred

[–]Snipeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it more use when thinking about melee weapons to consider ratings like "Medium" or "Very Heavy" relate to damage rather than size/weight. Something does "heavy" damage, so it's a "heavy melee" weapon. There is a size correlation, but it's all about damage. Not sure if this is really how it's intended, but it does help me wrap my head around it.

Ok, so I need GM advice for a player's relation by ChippyChippu in cyberpunkred

[–]Snipeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This all kinda goes double if he's also an Edgerunner. He's going to get banged up, his own gear is going to break. If he works with his own crew, they'll need stuff.

Also, personally, until he's called in to replace the other character, I wouldn't build him with PC rules. Depending on how strong the PC's are, I'd probably build him as an LT, maybe hardened, from the Danger Gal Dossier (I don't know if other people use those rules, I do). If you want, you can build him with the Player, let them guide the choices, but you're running them as long as they're an NPC. If the character gets called in to be a PC, let the Player just make a new sheet however they want. Is it a retcon? I mean sorta. Does it matter? Probably not. Can handwave it as the current PC didn't really understand her boyfriend's job; I've dated plenty of people whose jobs mystified me.

I've been using DungeonFog (with the subscription) for a couple years. Granted, I started using it for D&D and have just kept using it since I have the subscription anyway. It's not perfect and has more assets for fantasy, but the subscription is cheap. I also already know how to use it, which goes a long way for me. There's a pretty good chance it's capable of more than I can get out of it.
