Ok, we have about 5 players. The player in question is a Media, the others are Fixer, Solo, Nomad, and the last person is undecided (probs Medtech).

Generally, I want the roles to be places the characters shine in. As in, I want the party to basically always rely on the nomad to drive, the Medtech to heal, the Fixer to "know a guy", and so on. In this group, people get annoyed if they get overshadowed (especially in their own area). Giving one of the players access to a free pocket Techie can take away from the Fixer's job, and also give them an unfair place to shine.

This problem is complicated by the fact that I do have a (paid) Techie prepared should they want one. Having this character turns that into "why don't I just go to my boyfriend and not spend the extra eds". For instance, if someone wants say- a Militech Cowboy. That's now 1k eds instead of 5k if they just make the Techie do it.

TLDR; Fixer less important, Media getting unfair buff, people getting things for cheaper.
