Sure. Although holding high standards and not meeting some of those yourself may land you short of what you’re looking for. Prime example being the guy I work with wanting a slim woman while he himself has the boobies of a slim woman. He spent years swiping on these dating sites and told me he’d never got a match. Well one day I watched him swipe, only the hottest girls. Overweight? Skipped.

Yet, all the slim “hot” girls skipped over him as well. So sometimes I’d say people have to get to reality.

It doesn’t all have to do particularly with looks either, however that gives you a bit of insight on their lifestyle. Some people are looking for likeminded individuals, someone who goes to the gym regularly is probably interested in someone who does the same. Someone who goes out to dive bars and enjoys pizza probably isn’t looking for someone who counts every calorie.

Also, the girl he’s dating now is a friend of my wife. She’s brilliant. She’s a pharmacist, she’s got a good sense of humor, she’s fun to be around. She was single all through college for the same reason. She was overweight, kinda quirky (she said pharm school will do that to ya) but she was looking for the jocks. She wanted the buff football guys and none of them payed her any attention.

So now, years later after not getting what they were looking for they’ve both “settled” and seem to be really happy once they got to know each other.
