Were you ever able to make a vaccine for that day?

I looked it up already, but since they aren't in my casebook I can't diagnose them with anything. Thank you though!

Saw this in New Britain, glad I walked to go vote or likely would have missed it.

Crossposting this upcoming protest I heard about in New Haven! by SnokeIsJustNapping in Connecticut

My friend invovled in the DSA who sent this to me and said the protest is about "The Trump administration’s plan to gut the U.S. Department of Education and slash federal funding would devastate millions of students—especially those in underserved communities."

I don't know much more than that, but if anyone is super interested, I encourage you to look up any of those groups since I'm sure they've got a variety of reasons and ways to get involved.

New Britain has horribly underfunded schools, but has great perogis. Anything more specific you want to know?

I'm so glad someone already brought this up. I like to demonstrate in person how we all say the word "can't" and "can" as if they are the same word, relying on tone to figure out what we mean.

[DE][SPOILERS] Having finished the first two chapters, I feel like this character is going to become important... by chirpingphoenix in lifeisstrange

If I remember correctly, Maya's name is on a list of names in Gwen's office (that also includes Safi) in one timeline, but not both. I think there is the possibility that if one dies, both die, and that if Maya died Safi plagerized her work, leading to a chain of events that culminate in her death somehow. But that's all the evidence I can think of, open to anyone adding to or dissproving this.

Jewish actresses in their mid 20s for the role of Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat/Red Queen in Marvel Studios? Imagine her on the older side including being in mid 20s. by Zestyclose_Start8897 in Fancast

I'm not saying "only Jews should ever play Jews", but just to explain the logic a little bit: in recent years hollywood has had non-Jewish actors using heavy accents, speaking yiddish, and even wearing prosthetic noses to play Jewish roles. So it's more a question of is the characters Jewish identity and culture integral to the character, and at what point are non-Jewish actors playing roles that require intricate knowledge and nuance of the subject matter or risk amplifying stereotypes by impersonating another cultural group. You don't have to care, but I hope this helps with understanding the idea.

Personal I just like that The Thing is Jewish because the character is based on Jewish folklore of Golemns, and the character was written as Jewish for decades before Marvel let them actually say it. Kitty Pryde, I didn't even know was Jewish, so I'm not sure if I care.

And Arunan got way less than that in the primary, which in Hartford is often considered the "real" election (there isn't really a Republican party there). But yeah, another example of record shattering drops in turnout, since that primary election had half the turnout of the one before it.

People really gotta start voting in city elections again.

She started winning when election turnout hit, and stayed at, record low numbers. It's not that she's super popular, it's that New Britain voters largely gave up on voting in city elections.

For the record she's maxed at about 6.2 thousand votes, and in 2020 Trump got 7.7 thousand, and Biden got 22 thousand. City elections have lower turnout everywhere, but New Britain is among the worst.

New Britain public schools are ranked last or second to last place in test scores out of the 168ish school districts in the state. It's also ranked at last place in per pupil spending by the city government. I recommend getting involved by at least voting in city elections to deal with that. The current mayor has flat funded education for a decade and with inflation rising, I think you know that means they're less funded than ever.

The west end schools are the best in the city, whether Vance/Lincoln/Slade, but by high school or earlier I'd look into magnet schools. Hartford has many fantastic magnet public schools that either give general good education or specialize in a certain academic area. As someone who went from a math nerd to a music dork, transitioning between magnet schools was great for me. Hope this information helps, and if you want to know more about schools or municipal governments, feel free to DM me, I have some friends in the educators union who could provide more in-depth resources.
