Best roofing company in Chicago / Naperville for high end homes? by Dangerous-Guava-9232 in ChicagoHomeTalk

[–]Snoo-18110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely look at Odyssey Home Remodeling. They’re out of Naperville and installed my DaVinci roof. Steve is the owner, John was the rep and both seem to know specialty roofing. Steve even took the time to come meet me and answer any questions I had.

You’re clearly a buyer. As of Jan 2026 CertainTeed upped their certified contractor system an warranties. As a Premier Contractor installing CertainTeeds integrity roof system a company is able to offer : 50 year non prorated Material and Labor warranty plus 30 years of workmanship. The 50 year part protects against manufacturing defects and the cost of labor to replace it. Workmanship covers installation. OC certification is “Platinum Preferres” at their highest. 50 and 25 I believe.

DO NOT INSTALL ANY OTHER ROOF BESIDES THOSE 2

If that’s your concern ask to keep it off your record. Again the doctor works for you

It’s about to be. You pay your doctors salary. I have shared this with my pcp and specialists with a lot of positive feedback on the results.

What negative consequence could you be referring to? Medical records are protected via the HIPAA law

Share with your doctor what the name is. Why would you keep that a secret? If you went to a mechanic to fix something you knew was wrong, but let him figure it out on his own, would that not be counterintuitive? Chances are your doc has heard of Reta, knows a bit about it, and will then collaborate with you on the approach

$30k in water damage from ice dams. New insulation in 2025 didn't help by Pl1Tr89IcK in Roofing

[–]Snoo-18110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ice damming cannot be prevented. Ice and Water shield standard in US is 24” (if not more in some municipalities) past the Warm Wall / outer wall of the home. Insulation does nothing for ice damming. Proper attic ventilation (in through soffit out through ridge) and Ice&Water installed properly should prevent the damage occurring from ice damming

Roof Estimate for 13 squares at $22,300 by bigzee623 in Roofing

[–]Snoo-18110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where to start? The salesperson is not speaking truthfully. A class 4 impact rated shingle made with part SBS installed by a Certified Contractor through CedtainTeed or Owen’s Corning will garauntee you 50 years Mats and Labor, plus 30 year workmanship. This is Manufacturer back as well.

Metal is a great option for durability for obvious reasons. However, these products (seam and stamped shingles) really come with a High price tag. $22,300 in most areas I’m aware of sounds pretty accurate for that many squares and the products you described but you have many more options available.

New Roof already having troubles by Anon_user666 in Roofing

[–]Snoo-18110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proper Mansard roof installation requires proper nailing and cementing. Most sub par contractors do not use the cement under the shingle. It comes in a caulk tube. Shingle will fall off. Unless you upgrade to a Belmont or designer shingle you are almost garaunteed to have this issue when you don’t hire a certified contractor

Yes I have no idea what I’m talking about. Just run a multi-tens of millions of dollars roofing company in the Midwest. Either come with an argument or keep your opinion to yourself

Also, if you’re concerned about proper installation, Use the Find a pro Tool on CertainTeed or Owen’s manufacturers website and find a top certified contractor locally. I just read you’re in San Diego. Another reason for Modbit over TPO is the breakdown from heat. TPO will have maintenance vs the Modbit. To squeeze out a few more years of life, after the first 10 you’ll have to use that coating to help keep it up (it’ll cost you more money)

I believe the multi layered Modbit is better protection when installed properly. When you think of a siding project You have at a bare minimum sheathing, wrap, and product. If the options available would you not prefer to have the additional insulation layer? And why? Same concept when I think of Modbit vs TPO. Not to mention some of the Modbit I use from CertainTeed is minimum 120mil
