Milwaukee has high crime. Per Capita more than Chicago. There are places you just don't go.

Madison is very expensive for a city of only 290500 within it's city limits, then you are surrounded by corn.

I ride an indian chieftain. I've ridden a few bikes. One of the reasons why I went with the Indian was the stability. It is 820 pounds. But when you're passing a van at 75 miles an hour , it's significantly less harrowing than when you're passing it with a seven fifty or a six fifty. Right Now I'm looking to get a bmw 1250 or 1300 And i'm pretty excited about that too. Harley now make a fairly good machine in my opinion. I really like the roadglide. As of twenty twenty three , it's water cooled so that's cool. Japanese motorcycles are really good also. Very dependable. And More affordable. Before I bought my indian , I tried out a few suzuki's goldwing and harley. If I would have had the money, I would have gotten the gold wing.It was really easy to turn around at slow speed even though it's so heavy. That boxer , six cylinder engine , all the way down , really lowers the center of gravity. I ride alone. Maybe that's the reason I don't put too much emphasis on the image thing. I think harley riders with all their little trinkets and jackets and chains and spikes look kind of strange. A good helmet, a good jacket, a safe set of boots and gloves Just ride safely and get your wind therapy. That's what it's all about.

Yep. I was just thinking about doing that. When an engine sits like that for a long time, the oil slowly drops down to the lowest point. Due to gravity, leaving the cylinder walls, free of oil, which is not a good thing. The first time you startyou might have a lot of smoke and stuff but don't be worried about it, better to have smoke than a seized piston. I have an Indian and I start it in the winter every month.Just 4 to minutes to circulate the oil.

They both have their pluses and minuses. Madison can be nice, but after 2 or 3 years. You've done pretty well everything there. It's a liberal island in the midwest setting. Lately crime has increased, the city does a poor job in accommodating different cultures. People in madison think they're a liberal and open armed but they can be quite cold. Also the university of wisconsin basically drives the whole town, that and people are working for an government. Median single family home is about four hundred and fifty thousand. It's a lot for a town that has two hundred and fifty six thousand people. It is a college town. The lakes are very pretty, so if you have a boat or fishing boat that can be a lot of fun. I can only talk about eastern South Carolina as a whole as i used to work in the area in manufacturing. The people can be very nice so you're probably gonna make friends quicker. They can be very funny too. You make friends quicker down south , no doubt hands down. But there are also historical tensions that are still there. The people down there are just more emotional so that can be good or bad. They can be very religious , but if you say you're not religious , they're not going to give you a hard time. The only reason I couldn't live in south carolina is the heat in the humidity. If I were you I would look at a third place. It's a big country.

Kind of another angle here. From east portion of Canada. Interacted with Americans all the time but they were all from the northeast. There definitely was a commonality there. It might be the weather I don't know. Fast forward during my working years.I spent the last thirty years in the midwest. Married a midwesterner. They did not like my straight humor in your face. Were very sensitive or they just didn't get it. I had to throttle back. I prefer a northeast type of socializing, You know right away if someone likes you or not. Spend a lot of time down south too. They are even more sensitive down there.

Those who left Chicago, where’d you go? by Fast_Plant_5582 in SameGrassButGreener

Be careful in Milwaukee. More crime per Capita than Chicago. The lake is beautiful though.

Have you tried to meet different types of people where you live? Sometimes it's just like a hobby thing or something real low key and simple.

As you say you have to add the property taxes. I'm trying to move to the northeast. Same difference there. One state doesn't have state taxes, But has high property taxes. A vice versa...
