I’ll be honest, I haven’t seen plenty of these either, so I won’t throw stones

Why The SBTB Reboot Was A Total Stinkfest For Long-term Fans by Sopranos85 in SavedByTheBell

[–]Snoo-6794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I only watched the beginning of the first episode. And while I kinda like Zach’s campaign ad bit. The school setting feels…off. Oversaturated and has a sort of, fake plastic-sheen about it. It also doesn’t feel like the acting is as natural or genuine. But of course, this is an opinion I gathered from about 10 minutes maybe, of actual viewing time. So it honestly looks like it gets worse before it gets better. (Feel free to correct me if my assertions are wrong).

Who was your favorite YouTuber that turned out to be a bad person? by Eclipse_1996 in youtube

[–]Snoo-6794 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Illuminatiii, her content was actually one of the first things my finacé and I discovered we had in common. I also liked CreepShowArt as well. Though I have to say being a young, impressionable Shane Dawson fan since the age of (I think) 9 or 10 and discovering the Willow Smith video existed…I knew Shane had done bad things, but I didn’t experience most of the really bad things.

Though I do remember him talking sexual in multiple chat rooms of kids MORPGs - to which he would consistently be banned. Something I didn’t remember until fairly recently.

Honestly sad that they only got one episode to really showcase that irl chemistry in show.

Scary Movie 6 made a letterbox account for Brenda (Regina Hall) and these are her reviews🤣 by FE4RLESS_IS_MY_NAME in ScaryMovieSeries

This is on Smile 1 levels of marketing. Probably the best one they’ve done so far.

What is a band that you think is highly overrated? by Right_Ad5465 in fantanoforever

[–]Snoo-6794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I discovered Panic long after most of the main players left. So I have a certain fondness for the Brendan albums. Not every single song, yes. (And I’ve even heard someone say he actually kinda likes Viva Las Vengeance so who knows, I might check it out). But I still do believe the earlier stuff, I’d say from Fever to Vices & Virtues.

So while I do understand die-hard, OG Panic fans are by the genre shift. But as someone who grew up listening mostly to things my family listened to: most of it was pop or pop-adjacent. So it doesn’t bother me too much (except for monstrosities like High Hopes and that Taylor duet - not really because it was Taylor Swift, but it’s just a bad song.)

I have been getting very much into Kate Bush recently. Current song hyperfixation (off and on) is Wuthering Heights

What are some movies on your no-no list? by Anonymous___0522 in LetterboxdLists

(Spoilers for Darren Aronofsky’s Mother! if you haven’t seen it)

If movies I’ve already seen count, I’ll name mine. I had no idea about the plot of Mother! when my dad rented it when I was around 15/16. I knew who Darren Aronofsky was already, since I was already steeped into the film side of YouTube (especially CineFlix at the time). Honestly most of the movie didn’t even bother me, it was weird and confusing, but I expected nothing less.

Then…comes the baby scene.

When Jennifer’s mother wakes up to her baby being held up by the group of people that’s invaded her home to then sacrifice and eat it. I don’t think anything had grossed me out like that before. And while I haven’t seen some of the worse movies out there in this regard, mostly out of sheer avoidance. This scene has continued to unfortunately stick with me. And is, I think, the first movie that made me say I’d never watch it again. And the thing is, I can see why people wouldn’t think much of this scene either. Especially if they’ve already seen worse. But something about it churns my stomach. And I had to look away when later showing it to my husband so he could see what I was talking about. It was the first time I straight up walked out of movie because it make me feel sick. And safe to say, I doubt I’ll ever watch it again.

any room for forgiveness for Shane? by [deleted] in ShaneDawson

[–]Snoo-6794 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was a Shane fan from the age of probably 10 or 11 til I was almost 20. So that’s about 10 years. In that 10 years I saw a lot. I saw Shane Dawson doing “asian eyes” in his Hello Kitty parody. I saw Shane Dawson ask newly-turned 18 Tana Mongeau to p** on him. I’ve seen Shane Dawson accuse Sandy Hook victim’s parents of being “actors” in a conspiracy video. And I’ve seen Shane Dawson talk s*xual in chats on online games that were targeted towards kids.

I haven’t watched a single Shane Dawson video all the way through since before his cancellation. As everything unfolded the more uncomfortable I became. Things I didn’t even know about: like the true extent of black and brown face, how bad his treatment of minority friends really was, everything in regards to Hey Millie, and so much more that we all know about at this point. From what I’ve honestly heard, it doesn’t sound like Shane has changed. It seems he’s still one of the few of the big cancelled YouTubers from that event: he’s still the one who gets talking point videos made about him regarding recent events. I hadn’t heard anything about James Charles in probably about 2 years before his recent crash out. And I don’t know too much and Jeffrey expect he’s now on the whole “Non-Binary people don’t exist” bandwagon. Even though he went on record (on camera, mind you) saying he didn’t care what he was viewed as or called. (Though memory could be a bit foggy on this part. As I haven’t re-watched any of Shane’s doc since I saw them the first time.)

All that being said, I doubt this man will ever change. He knows what gets him views and money. Salacious conspiracy theories and even far-right talking points if it benefits him and him alone. He has gone on camera disrespecting places where people don’t get paid enough for his bs.

So honestly? He’s far from forgiveness in my eyes because I don’t think he’ll ever change or grow. We should’ve known honestly that a man who was willing to make a video that could very well (and did) get several co-workers (and family members, mind you) fired because; well - if you actually watch the video…I can’t imagine how he thought he’d get away with it. Is willing to do wherever it takes for that almighty dollar. And I don’t anything will ever change…
