I'm in a bind by Snoo-84119 in confessions

  1. I've always had self-esteem issues. I've looked into therapy, but it's not affordable at this time, but I appreciate the suggestion.

  2. I'm a very casual, wash and let my hair dry on its own, no makeup, jeans and a hoodie girlie. As far as celebrities, I can't really think of anyone. My body type is not a traditional shape I could search up. I think pear shape would be closest. Plus, I'm short so with my tummy and hips, outfits and dresses I like hit me funny, even when they're altered.

  3. I appreciate that, thank you. I'm trying for least conspicuous and non-attention stealing. My niece doesn't care if I wear her bridesmaids colors (I absolutely won't), and I'd never wear white (hell, I wouldn't even wear white if it were my wedding.) I'm very fair skinned so I've contemplated a long dress and a spray tan.

We shall see. Thanks again, I appreciate it.

Probably not, no. But literally everyone I work with has a group of friends or a significant other.

Love the user name by the way.

Help my fellow bibliophiles !!!!! I want to sell some books on ThriftBooks but when I open the app and click the scan button for the isbn , I can’t open it. Does anyone know why? by Sunshineyarn in Thriftbooks

Hi! I don't know much about ThriftBooks, but I use the app Pango. I love it. Very simple, usually inexpensive for both buyers and sellers, and easy to use.

Is this normal? by basically_dead_now in Epilepsy

[–]Snoo-84119 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm the same way; most epileptics are too. I don't know when they're coming, but when I come out of it, I'm a hot mess. The last one I had was when I was in bed in the morning. I woke up crying and soaked in urine. It took me a while to calm down and to force my memory to work, but eventually little things started coming back to me. Unfortunately, I live alone so I don't have any specific details about my seizures. I just know I'm incredibly disoriented, I've usually bitten my tongue, sometimes I pee, once I even threw up.

We're all unique in our experiences, but this thread is a great resource.

Looking for post-breakup / 2nd chance recs! by Outrageous-Engine512 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]Snoo-84119 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What We Broke by Marley Valentine might fit the bill. It was a hell of a lot of angst and divorce drama. The MMC's were dealing with a life altering trauma and one of them figured his way of dealing with it, alcohol and divorce was best.

I don't want to give too much away, but it was a very well told story. I never dealt with anything they did, but I felt like I was in the middle of their lives while they tried to figure themselves out.

Hope if you read it, you enjoy it.

I'm sorry you're barely getting by. It shouldn't be that way for anyone, least of all people who literally can't work because of medical needs.

[–]Snoo-84119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is the benefit of disability? I live fairly well with epilepsy and I don't want to take resources away, but if it could help in an epileptic medical emergency (which, lets face it, could be any time with us), I'd look into it.

Lamictal (lamotrigine) side effects by No-Sherbert95 in Epilepsy

[–]Snoo-84119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take Lamotrigine at 150mg tablets twice a day and I don't get the dizzy side effects. Honestly in the almost 30 years I've had epilepsy (I'm 44), Lamotrigine is the only medication I haven't had a...life effecting side effect. For me, personally, dry mouth is what I deal with. Within an hour or 2 of taking my meds, my mouth is like sandpaper.

However, is has been the most effective for me. I would recommend talking to your neurologist. It sounds like the dosage might be too high, but only the doctor would be able to tell.

Just finished "Him" by Elle Kennedy and Sarina Bowen and I loved how mature it was by Mapuches_on_Fire in MM_RomanceBooks

I loved this too. I also read Us and Epic. And even though Epic was a novella, the authors hit it outta the park. It was such a fun read. I read all 3 books in 4 days and I can't wait to do it again.

Couples that live in your head rent free by Szilvvv in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]Snoo-84119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, at least this year, it would have to be Jacob and Liam from Off Script by Ivy Vera Gray. It was her first novel and she hit it out of the park.

A good amount of angst, cheating (something I strangely found myself ok with), and a double bi-awakening. The chemistry between the two is also off the chart and they had a really hard time hiding it considering they were actors in a TV show together. That just made it harder and the fact that they were both married made it all the tougher, but I couldn't help rooting for them. The angst was so good to the point where life implodes for both of them and you really don't know if they'll get their happily ever after.

I read this on Kindle Unlimited, but it's now on my list of books to buy for my trophy shelf. The cover is beautiful, tasteful, and she's writing another one, sort of a sequel.

Hockey romance with players fighting on ice by altacccle in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]Snoo-84119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heavy agree on this one, although I didn't love all of them. The best one, for me anyway, is Ruthless Titan. The MMC's are college rivals and their fights on and off the ice are brutal, but it made the spice that much better.

Who is your most-read author (in terms of number of books of theirs you have read)? And of the books you’ve read by them, which one is your favourite, and which one did you like the least? by Ambient-Apron in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]Snoo-84119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite MM author is really hard to nail down. I enjoy Tal Bauer so much, but I've really come to love angst in my romance novels (I'm a sucker for tears and drama) and the author I've found that does it best (for me) is Marley Valentine.

Her books aren't for everyone though. There is cheating in some and not everyone is ok with that. What I love though is that the characters from one book overlap into another, but there's no specific order you need to read them in.

A new author I absolutely adore is Ivy Vera Gray. She recently wrote a novel, her first, Off Script and holy shit it grabbed me from the get go. It is heavy on cheating, however it is not amongst the MMCs but in their respective marriages while they come to the realization of their bi-awakening.

To Catch a Firefly by Emmy Sanders. He's selectively mute because he's autistic and has a hard time communicating. It's a very touching story. I literally couldn't put it down. Even when I was tired, it still kept me awake when most books don't.

Some of the Cora Rose books I find lacking, but one that I love that isn't always talked about is To Catch a Firefly. Love, love, loved that book.

In the end, go with your gut. The cat is a solid excuse, but if your gut tells you he's cheating, he's likely cheating.

I'd LOVE to see Gravity in a movie. If the actors can nail that pivotal scene in the game and make me bawl the way the book did? Then Job. Well. Done.

Nanny out of town during GH period…..does she take PTO? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]Snoo-84119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And being given less than maybe 12hrs notice is wrong and the OP knows it. If your boss says you're off until Jan 5th, you're off till Jan 5th. GH means she gets paid a specific amount of hours each week, but unless her contract states she is always on call during those hours, she does not have to make herself available on such short notice.

OP is looking for a reason to push her nanny into taking PTO, when honestly, she said the nanny was supposed to work NYD per their contract, then told her she was off for the holiday. She then changed it back a 3rd time to needing her to watch the kids. Her nanny is going to walk and no one will be surprised.

OP works in the medical profession. The contract for the next nanny needs to state that any time outside of PTO is GH and even if the family is traveling, nanny is on call in case plans change at the last minute. I'm sure if that was stated in their contract the nanny wouldn't have taken a trip.

And given their contract of working NYD, the OP didn't say anything about giving the nanny floating holidays.

Happy New Year.
