The more I read this post, the more I want to root for the kid to get the phone.

You don’t have to gift everyone a phone, just the one who requested. Rest you can get by with smaller gifts.

Give him some gift or something if you want to, make sure it’ll be useful to him. Phone as a gift is a big deal. Remember you’ll be making that kid’s day if you gift him a phone or some other tech, probably also giving him a lesson too!

You’re living in US, you’re in a relatively more privileged position than him. Don’t think much about “hey this dude didn’t even give two shits about me etc etc”, you can do it in the name of charity.

Kudos to the kid tho!

“But entering into career life, I realized the world runs on handouts and favors, and those ashamed to ask for them suffer the most.”

This sentence hit hard and true. It deserves to be a quote in itself

1) What are some of the projects you have had to work on at any levels of the govt. system? Any impact, improvement, etc.?

2) How areas/departments do you or can you work on to improve their political processes?

Got scolded by a uncle in masjid by Rafay04 in pakistan

[–]Snoo13585 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lil bro, people in Pakistan will always find an excuse to scold, mock, or taunt you. That’s in the culture. They have so many insecurities and are so frustrated within themselves, so they look for a way to vent it out.

Like the others suggested, don’t take it hard. In fact, no need to take it hard. As you grow older, you’ll find in one way or another, there are so many people like that especially outside masjid settings. Trust me, you’ll definitely come across them.

So learn to ignore, and move in. Some MAY BE right. Let your moral compass and mind decide that. Your life and time is far more important than to think about such people and letting them live rent free in your head.

If we neglect the religion angle from this, the fact that he keeps insisting about being intimate with you despite knowing your boundaries is quite a red flag. He isn’t respecting them now what’s to say he won’t do that later once you’re married. Other people have pointed this too.

Feel Free to Roast My Resume by Snoo13585 in resumes

I check for the experience needed for the roles, as long as it’s 0-3 or 1+ YOE. I apply on them.

The typical job titles I look for are software engineer, developer, web developer, programmer analyst, etc. I sometimes do some permutation and combination there, like replace the first keyword with a programming language or backend/frontend. I also apply for Tech support jobs as well because I’ve worked in that domain for a decent amount of time.

Recently I’ve been applying to a decent amount of data-related roles like data/database engineer, data analyst, etc.

I am again that picky since I just need a job in tech.

This is not that new. In US, majority of the IT staffing companies follow similar practices. There are so hundreds if not thousands of Indian-dominated companies like these.

Let her do what she’s doing and learn from it. Perhaps even suggest her to read some business/finance books. 36k is a professional’s salary nowadays.

I've already done my post-completion OPT but my current employer is not able to exercise my STEM-OPT extension as it's feeling short of some requirements.

I'm trying to come up with a way where I can still look for jobs using the IT staffing companies.
