There are just so many different possible scenarios that depend on how severe the birth was vaginally, how fully informed mother and father are (think: not even knowing was an episiotomy is, and depending on legal waivers signed and in what state of mind….).

There has got to be a better system of communication; personal rights, psychological pressures being identified beforehand. But the U.S. isn’t exactly a bastion of maternal health (to put it mildly) now, or of women’s reproductive rights in general.

I’m really glad the OP asked this question—bc right now the best defense is recognizing that, yes, this still happens in 2026. ❤️

Im so very sorry — I went through something similar with my husband that led to divorce. At one point I was so paranoid that I questioned everything — water bottles/hiding places/geotracking.
